Made a TIERLIST for all the IEMs that came out so far :eyes:

Seems like my Aegis sounds dif then some others? Might need to relisten to another one in the future

It’s also that Aegis needs a good clean source signal (because it’s very sensitive, picks up gunk in the signal) and fairly picky with tips. Baroque and E-Type works best, depending on how you wanna tilt the sound. I think it’s brilliant with my iBasso DC Elite on high upsampling especially. Thin or bright I would not call the Aegis under optimal circumstances.

Ya that sounds like what other people are telling me. Mine didn’t have that much low-end to balance out the uppermids/treble so it felt very shouty. I’ll run it back if I get the chance to listen to another one - the Legion on the other hand was pretty fun

Aegis should be bassier/warmer than Legion. If Aegis is thin and shouty, you have a lemon

Measurements aren’t everything but they sure would suggest otherwise, especially if people are sensitive 4-6k

looks like coupler variation to me rather than the iem its not that drastic.

I’m super sensitive to 4-6kHz. There is some elevation there in the Aegis, adding clarity and edge, but not sibilance. If you do things wrong like not using correct tips, an ill fit and subpar power and source, it can become a bit too pronounced.

But again, under right conditions, it only serves to help give definition and clarity to the mids, cutting through the warmth down low.

Punch Audio Martello

Basically a cheaper PUNCH

Chi-Fi be Chi-Fi’ing. But you know how that is: Paying more doesn’t always get you more (except for when it does).

Also micro planar vs EST treble…

I think hbb said in his review that he prefers the Punch Audio Martello over his collab. Is there an actual difference that you notice?

I took it that he meant considering the significant price difference, but not in absolute terms.

Also EST>Planar for treble.

MARTILO is more energetic and less bassy, not as smooth but more “fun” in a way
