đŸ”¶ Koss KPH30i

This I’m interested in. I’ve not paid that much attention to these since they’re not that closed back, but being able Frankenstein these made me buy the KSC75 (no point spending $35 on a hunch) but it’s kinda hard to find the G cushion for some reason, I keep running into the angled version from Misodiko.

Are you planning to do this mod with the ksc75 instead? I hope you could share your findings soon!

You could always get some off-branded G-cush pairs even cheaper than Misodiko, but if you’re willing, found where to get them here via AliExpress. If you could get G-cush angled pads from Misodiko, I would also be interested in how those would perform. I wouldn’t pay for the original Grado G-cush pads though.

Yeah I found one for $5. I had to import the 75, so it probably won’t get here for a week or so.

I have not, though I don’t think I could handle the ear clips, lol. Just the build on the 30i was enough that I passed up free ones at RMAF. The nonstop hype wore me down until I eventually bought mine.

I’m glad I have the 30i as a point of reference and to help show people that good sound doesn’t have to cost $200 (and that $200 doesn’t necessarily get you good sound). But now that the novelty has worn off I probably won’t bother with anything else sub-$100. Maybe to mod or something, but I dunno

You can replace the clips with a headband, there are a couple of options around. That’s the first thing I’ll be doing.
Parts Express does a pretty cheap one that’s compatible. It’s normally cheaper on their own website but they’re out of stock atm.

It’s funny, when I read “headband” I was picturing a headband:

My wife has some “sleep headphones,” which are kinda nice, but the sound quality is pretty much garbage. Bet these could be “hot-rodded” with Koss drivers:

They’re out of stock I believe until next month I was going to buy 2 of them.

I’ve heard that the white KPH30is have poorer SQ. Can anyone confirm that it’s true? There’s a seller here that’s gonna sell the whites and I’m getting a discount, so I might grab them if it’s worth

I own the white ones, and if there is a difference I didn’t notice it when compared to the tan ones.

I own grey and beige and they’re identical
I believe the sound is consistent with all colours

Aight cool. There was a reddit post back then where a guy bought tons of all the colors of KPHs and only the beiges sounded good
but that was a while back. . Just wanted to make sure!

Can’t wait for mine to arrive!

so a first impressions after months of trying them a while back really prefer it over the ksc 75 build and form factor much better. Noticably darker and not as resolving than a ksc 75 but much more fun and enoyable. that bass response is definitely the highlight on this heapdhone. In a really limited space of budget open backs these to me are the definite winner.

A sad sad day for me. Just a little over a month of use, after carefully placing them from my head down around the neck they snapped. I did notice the adjuster kept on shaving some tiny plastic pieces out of the box so that made me already extra careful using them. I emailed Koss for a warranty claim but since I got this in Japan, outside the country, it’s a long shot, I would just glue these out but I worry the headband adjuster won’t slide properly anymore.

Anyone here could share any Koss warranty experiences outside the US or Canada?

“If purchased outside the U.S. contact the local Koss Authorized Dealer for details.” what is says in the warranty section of their website. While you wait to hear back from Koss you should try using that UV light activated super glue. Works pretty good on plastics and holding it in place.

Really a long shot for me since there are no local Koss dealers here. Might as well wait for their response before I DIY fix, I initially planned to use Loctite super glue, now that you’ve mentioned a better glue that I could use, do you have any brand in mind?

I just used the SuperGlue brand. Its called light curing glue but if you find a different brand it should work roughly the same. It’ll stay a gel form until you apply the UV light. Then it’ll harden instantly.

Finally here!. Definitely smaller than I was expecting.

These feel like baby hands on my ears lol.

Really like how they sound! Now I’m tempted to try the ksc75s.
