Iām right there with you man. I took these headphones with Yaxi pads to a 4th of July gathering last weekend and it was hilarious watching people go from complete confusion and doubt to utter amazement at what $20-$30 of audio can deliver. Legit half the people there immediately asked where to buy a pair. And I also have ābetterā cans like Senn HD650 and T50RPs and I gotta say the improvements are so marginal that I question how much further I should go in audio.
Over the weekend, i saw that drop had the KPH30i on offer, and since it is virtual impossible to find here in Norway, i jumped on the offer. Will not ship until late august though, and shipping to Norway is not ānext dayā
Dude I order them as well gonna ship 21 July to Italy.
This audiophile community is like a wife they just wonāt stop sucking life out of me with all of this audio stuff, I never went on forums in my life and now Iām here every day.
P.s. I just turn 29 and still hanging out with a 22yr old gfā¦
I might be mistaken, but i thought it was 21. of august, but i will not complain if they ship early!
Nice pick up theyāre still one of my most listened to headphonesā¦ look forward to your thoughts
Im really on the Koss train at the momentā¦ really enjoing my porta pros with yaxi padsā¦And i liked the ksc-75 i bought some time ago, but i was never a fan of the āhook behind the earā design, and they lack a bit of bass compared to the porta prosā¦ so if the KPH30i is a bit of a in between and the comfort is there, i will probably be quite happy
@Knutmh Put the ksc 75s on a headband (parts express headphone band or porta pro will fit). Will improve bass, and give better midrange clarity than portas imo. Yaxis work and improve comfort. Enjoy the Koss club! PS this is my go to phone for searches, and just plain fun.
You can use the ksc75 on the porta pro headband as wellā¦ I always give away my koss stuff to friends and fam but I have been wanting to give the porta pros a go again
so I was watching some zeos reviews and in his review of the BTR3K (https://youtu.be/MjGrbGVxp2g) he hints at a clear version of the KPH30is coming out. Is this true? If so, has there been any more information on it? I would definitely be interested in some clear KPH30is :o
Yes itās true. Iāve already seen an image of it that I probably cannot share here. No other info on itās release.
If only they made a version that was easier to pad swapā¦
My pair arrived today and so far Iām undecided if I these will be a replacement to my PX-100 II that I have had for the past 4-5 years. The first thing I noticed was more bite to the highs, but nearly non-existent low end on a fair amount of songs I tried. I can safely say the highs, however are not harsh like they were on the old pair of Pota Pros I had before getting the Sennheisers. The Sennheisers have an all-round quality to the low-mid-highs that I really love, and I think Iāll miss that with this Koss set. The Koss has that ever-so-slight Grado-ish sound in the highs over the Senās, but theyāre a bit disappointing in the other areas, and those highs can tend to get uncomfortable after a while. Iāll definitely give them a few more days before deciding on whether I want to keep them or send them back.
If I do keep them, Iāll be using that guide on here to replace the cable with a TRN one, and for putting on the other pair of Yaxi pads I have from when I did the same thing with the PX-100ās.
Both headphones running through a Fiio K1 USB DAC.
Decided Iām going to keep them. Even if they donāt replace my current headphones, theyāll be a decent backup pair to have around as they probably still sound better than anything else that can currently be purchased new for sub Ā£100.
Quick question about the headband. Has anyone had success trying to stretch it a little? - If so, how did you go about it. The clamp pressure is a bit too much for me.
They do, the new porta pros are very close in sound signature to my ears.
Just got these, and yeah they are really good. Better than my KSC35, KSC75, and Porta Pro. I much prefer the comfort of these KPH30i over the PortaPro, they fit so well with my tall head shape even though I have to extend the headband only 4 clicks from the top. And basically no clamp pressure, itās very evenly distributed on my ears, the pad shape is ear shaped which only adds to the comfort.
I would describe these as baby 58Xs or 650s in general sound signature. Itās got that mid bass hump all of Kossās headphones have, and the mids and highs are super smooth and warm. But they extend a good amount, Iām not missing that much detail. Itās only a bit warmer/darker than my 58X, with less detail. So yeah, basically a portable on ear mini 58X for me, incredible for $30.
What do you mean clear version?
Koss makes semi-transparent headphones like the CL-10. They are usually reserved for US prisons since it makes it difficult to hide things in headphones that are see-through. The KPH30i is one of the headphones thatās going to have a clear version, but we donāt know when it will be released. Iāve already seen an image of it though.
