EVGA has been my go to manufacturer for Nvidia GPUs (and power supplies for that matter) for years now, and will be until their US customer service proves me wrong choosing so. I’ve had them pre-emptively ship me a power supply due to a recall, replace a GTX 1070 with a GTX 1080, among other positive experiences. Just make sure to register the card on their site, it will make life way easier later on.

Yeah, the Samsung B-Die requirement for 3200 MHz was kind of sucky for X370. Memory speed wasn’t a priority for me on that box so I am running 2666 MHz on it. I had Unraid for a long time and finally decided to switch over to FreeNAS/TrueNAS when I started running a VMWare homelab:
The hardware itself has held up pretty well. It’s an R7 1700X on an ASUS Prime Pro X370, I’m running the drives off a pair of LSI MegaRAID 9201-8i’s and have 10GbE on a Mellanox Connect-X NIC.

One of the side effects of NewEgg’s forced bundling in their shuffle is that the unwanted stuff gets listed on eBay at a nice discount. So if anyone is in the market for a new motherboard or monitor, you may want to check ebay. Just verify it won’t explode before buying it lol

Seems like social media companies are the new investment banks. Every once in a while some news story comes out about something outrageous they are/were involved in. Example: Twitter refusing to remove child pornography because it didn’t ‘violate policies’. The larger public doesn’t know that this was going on, and a lot of them are themselves Twitter users.
Some people are indeed like “WTF how could’ve this happened?”, but most just don’t care enough, because it doesn’t impact or has little effect on their lives. And most politicians, the actual law makers, don’t care, as long as their campaign gets a big fat check. Maybe the social media companies get a little slap on the wrist, but at the end of the day nothing changes.

These sons-of bitches should have been broken up a long time ago. But certain entities that shall remain nameless (we all know who they are) continue to shield them as long as they do their bidding. It’s amazing how money and power can buy immunity. It’s sick and it needs to stop - but who will stop it? That indeed, is the bigger question. You don’t have many options when “justice” is for sale…

Can definitely tell he doesn’t know much about computer hardware, lol. He says he has a ROG Rampage IV motherboard, but he misread it or was sent a typo in his specs, because that’s a Rampage IV Extreme. The rest of the specs are:
CPU: Core i9-10980XE, 18c/32t
RAM: 128GB Corsair Dominator Platinum (4x32GB), could be 3200 or 3600, product page doesn’t specify
Storage: Samsung 2TB 970 EVO boot, unspecified 4TB additional SSD
GPU: ASUS TUF RTX 3090
PSU: 1600W Corsair AXi
No specification on whether it was overclocked by the people who built it or not, but given his level of unfamiliarity, I’d assume they either left everything stock, or possibly just enabled XMP and Multi-Core Enhancement and called it a day.
Now, as for rating the computer itself, it’s certainly a well-built PC. It’s not “Ultimate Gaming PC” though. The X299 platform isn’t something that you use for a strictly gaming PC. If he had to pay for that, which I’m assuming he didn’t for what it’s worth, he got ripped off hard.

The 128GB of Dom Plat is the funniest thing to me. Anything he’s doing won’t require 128GB of RAM for another couple decades…
Just slightly less funny is the 109080XE, that CPU was a joke the second it came out.
At least they put it all in an Obsidian 1000D so he can get some reps in…

That case is definitely going to the “Oh lord he chonkin” category.
While a couple of decades for 128GB of RAM is likely too long, as given DDR5 capacities are going to cap at 128GB per DIMM, we could conceivably see some AAA games push RAM utilization high enough within 7 years that systems with 128GB of RAM isn’t unreasonable. Granted, they’ll be few and far between, and will still be capable of being run with less, but I can see it happening.
As for the 10980XE…it was a CPU alright, lol. Honestly, the entire X299 Cascade Lake line-up shouldn’t have been a thing. Hopefully Sapphire Rapids will be at least somewhat decent for Intel’s HEDT until they can get Emerald Rapids to market.

No, but that price will naturally come down as DDR5 matures. Prices now are just the early adopter tax.
Guys, I have an odd issue here in regards to the previous motherboard that I used to own and it is an MSI B450M Bazooka Plus. The issue is that when the 3600 CPU is installed, the left 2 DIMM slots are not working, therefore only the right DIMM slots work and obviously RIP Dual-channel.
The BIOS of that board is already up-to-date meaning it should be compatible with the CPU in the first place and of course avoiding issues in the long run. I even reset the CMOS battery just to make sure it will work with the usual RAM setup, but to no avail it does not work and does not boot. I checked the 3600’s pins just to be sure it does not have any issues, and voila it doesn’t have any bent pins and it works normally on other boards.
Here’s the weird part, the 3600 installed on the board does not boot with the usual Dual channel RAM setup right? But with the 2600x CPU installed on the board, it fucking works with the RAM sticks on their proper slots. Before you ask me about the RAM kit, it’s a new one along with the CPU the 3600, the only old part would be the board since I gave it to my little brother to have a better PC to use.
Do you guys have any ideas on what could be the possible issue that prevents my brother using his build with the 3600 on?
