Let's talk about computers

Mine plays anything although can’t say i have a 88.2Khz Sampling to do. Can do 24bit 96khz which is the max of my receiver so does everything I need. If I could use HDMI I would but my receiver from 2000 so bad luck xD.

Yeah u will be good with any decent modern mobo much better than laptop.

Don’t let my question about sampling rates bother you. @Shiivu is correct. Any decent mobo will have a quality spdif output to do what you want. My mobo is pushing 10yo and I’m sure Realtek has addressed my question at some point in the last decade.

Bahaha thanks, I haven’t heard anyone talk about realtek in forever

Realtek components are still very common on many boards. They are perfectly fine for most now a days which is why they are hardly brought up. But if you have an unusual application like using WOL on unRAID you’re better off spending extra for Intel to get better reliability. Or at least that’s true for NICs

Im not a fan either but I figured bout how to enable xmp settings and how to set clockspeeds which is basically all I need for most builds though always preface every motherboard buy with pros and cons. and I kinda like how they do fan curve controls.

Not to mention they have shown they can figure out how to do a good VRM on a “cheaper” board.

I could not for the life of me figure out how to use their fan control and when in the bios it ran shit, like my dpi was on fucking 1 xD. Did not like, used multiple and by far best ive ever used is asus so ima just stick to em, Like the bios and they do everything else quite good as well. Just generally more expencive although they didnt have TUF boards when I built mine.

I find there are 2 versions of msi’s bios one is a hutty version where’s they try to emulate a more traditional Asus like bios but garbage but they have a rather simplistic version as well called the click bios which is pretty great and really easy to navigate

It was the click one that ran shit for me. Probably just that one board tbh but meh not easiest thing to do. Also it says arsenal gaming and as a Leeds fan I can’t have that xD.

Click bios 5? Works awesome for me

Yup that was the one, heard others having issues but updating fixed it for them. Didnt fix it for me, but its fine wasnt my build was done for someone who wont be entering it anyway so no biggie. Runs perfect otherwise.

They did do a thing where they had to strip down older pre x570 boards to the old shitty click bios to make room for space in the chipset to support Zen 2 cpus

Thank God b550 boards are finally out so I can get back to the nicer bios

Was a B450 i belive the Tomohawk max micro but yeah bios was shite for me everything else perfect. So cant fault too much too me longer than usual but did everything I needed to.

Yeah those B550’s look awesome great bang for buck. Sadly when I built it they wernt out yet I did tell him that should wait but he wanted it there an then as his old pc was legit on its like 6th life of being ressurected and was pure shite.

Wen msi again though I really like Asus boards more but msi’s pricing always makes me end up with them in my personal builds.

And the rumor mill keeps on turning:

My 2 cents for what they are worth:
It will be mediocre.
All the important IP to graphics generating chips is patented by the big bunch, so unless Apple throws a ton of cash at AMD Semi-Custom (or the various patent holders), it will end up underwhelming like Intels recent ventures (which are good for what they are and may be worth it for compute acceleration in servers, depending on a mountain of IFs).
Mark me surprised should Apple confirm this.
Mark me impressed if it does not suck for more than compute acceleration (Along the lines of Red Rocket, Nvidia Tesla or Intel Xeon Phi)

I normally go cheaper on mobos for builds I do for people who wont be overclocking but I usally spend that lil extra to get that nicer board. Plus I can usually afford as I use parts from my old board too. Personally can’t wait to get a new build still rocking Z170. XD

To be fair b550 boards took waaay too long to release I am currently running my 3600x on a b350 PC mate I was using to run a 1300x. I wanted to wait till I upgraded my motherboard but I got too good of a deal on my 3600x
