They’ve already said that won’t be till the end of the month.
was that said before the announcement event, as I never saw that thought on any of my tech feeds I read every day.
so…who here has been waiting for Ryzen 5000 and now that they’re announced and official, which model do you hope to get?
A year from now I’ll probably get the 5900X and stick it in my X470, living room PC. After I upgrade my GPU, I’ll be aiming for 4k 120 fps. I’m expecting the 3600X to not keep up.
hell man, the 3080, heck, not even the 3090 can do 4K @ 120 fps consistently. I think that will happen with the next gen of GPU’s.
Depends on the game, I can play 4k 120 on a 980 depending on game hahaha. Obviously not a AAA game.
well…I assumed they also meant with settings put to ultra. if that is toned down, then it may be more favorable.
Haha yeah ik, Just making the point its doable but not on these insane looking games lmao. I totally agree with you next gen
With DLSS, you can get decently close to 120 on a 3080. But I’m hoping NVidia will release something in between the 3080 and 3090. Since I’ll be using Gsync, I will be happy as long as the minimum frame rate is above 60.
they might…but I think it’s doubtful. the difference between the 3080 and the 3090 is about the same as what was between the 2080 Ti and RTX Titan. so it makes little sense to introduce a GPU that only gives you maybe 5% more. granted…there are rumors there’s a 20GB model in the works. time will tell.
It’s weird for them to have nothing in between considering the huge price jump. Due to constant the flow of rumors and leaks, the 20 gb model seems really likely. But what I really want is a 3090 with half the ram. If AMD puts out something that surpassed a 3080, I’m sure Nvidia would respond. But I don’t have much faith that will happen
Something that gets my planned upgrade under 1000€ total.
My rig is a hand built one I did in August of 2019.

If you want more detail on how I initially chose to build it, as a budget PC, and ended up as a powerhouse PC instead, I wrote it about it on my site.
Think I’ll dive in for the 5900X now that working from home has been normalised. It’s about time to step up from the 4790K…
Now if only picking a case were as easy.
Been holding out upgrading my “gaming rig” for ages, as my i7-3770k is rather dated, and so is my GTX 1070.
The 5900X or 5950X looks like interesting choices, although budget will be a factor so the 5900X is a more likely candidate when i upgrade. That combined with a nvidia 3080 card would probably do wonders for my VR racing sims, and other AAA titles.
My plan though, is to wait a bit for the marked to stabilize, and hopefully prices to come down a little bit (not expecting a massive reduction in price though). AMDs upcoming gfxcard could also be interesting if they have a good price to performance ratio.
Well, Samsung has now launched their 980 Pro in three size capacities:
250GB for $90
500GB for $150
1TB for $230
I’m guessing they are using their own in house controller rather then the Phison controller everyone else with PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSDs have been doing.
I wonder when they’re gonna drop a 2 tb
what I want are affordable 2TB and 4TB SSD for storage purposes. with a lot of mobo’s supporting dual M.2 SSD’s now, it means we can make more compact systems and not sacrifice as much as before when you had to keep space for 2.5" or 3.5" drive. heck, someone should actually come out with a low cost but high capacity SSD just for storage. PCIe x2 would be more than enough bandwidth for such a beast…especially if it’s PCIe 4.0.
fortunately, being in IT gets me access to stuff…like free 1TB and 2TB SSD’s for my next build.
Lucky son of a…
I doubt I’ll be able to score any RAM…but I’ll try
also, they’re not the fastest SSD’s…Kingston A2000, so PCIe x2, buuut, most people will not notice a difference. only content creators need the speed that the latest / greatest are capable of.
