At that point, yeah. However, it would still be like the Intel vs Ryzen fight we’ve been seeing: Intel measurably wins, but still costs a good bit more, and needs more juice/cooling. Maybe not to the same scale, but it is still there.
Otherwise, we could see a 580/480 vs 1060 6GB fight again(with the other cards), where yeah, the 1060 6GB uses a bit less power, but the 580/480 tends to be a bit cheaper, and they trade blows to the point of basically being practically the same level of performance.
It won’t.
When the cards perform equal, they will be priced equal. If not by MSRP, then the shelf prices will certainly balance out.
I am a bit curious… If AMD really does compete, and (IF) they can provide better stock… Will AIBs designs favor AMD? Or will they still tend to favor Nvidia who seems to be openly treating them like shit, and trying to kneecap them?
Some will build good partner cards, others will not. It is a gamble and always will be.
You mean like the Geforce Partner Program?
Certainly possible.
Quick reminder for those who forgot:
And some of those will blame everyone but themselves for anything wrong with the card cough ASUS cough
Oh, I haven’t forgotten that shit.
how reliable are sapphire cards? this is the first time in a while Im actually contemplating amd but I dont know who does good or not. Ive been going evga constantly for so long I’ve basically ignore everyone else
From my understanding, Sapphire is basically the EVGA of AMD. We all know all too well how much Jayztwocents fanboys for EVGA, but even he seems to hold Sapphire in very high regards.
I’d say Sapphire is more like the PNY for Nvidia…makes their OEM and workstation graphics.
My R9 270x, R9 Fury, 5700xt and RX 580 are all Sapphire.
Had one problem with the 5700xt in the beginning (which was probably a bad chip, not a bad card) that needed RMA.
Suffice to say, I like them
IIRC Sapphire makes AMDs workstation cards.
My PNY experience has been… mediocre.
coo; how was the RMA experience? literally the second reson why I avoid asus other than ROG branding
Does Sapphire make AMD’s OEM and workstation cards? I know PNY (at least in the past) has done that for Nvidia (though their own custom cards at least don’t get nearly the attention everyone else does).
That is the thing. As I am in Germany, I sent it back to the retailer after explaining the symptoms.
Sent in the old card and got a replacement within a few days.
From the little I’ve noticed people talking about their custom cards, they’re fairly mediocre.
damn looking it up… sapphire sucks in canada in regards to RMA. looks liek I may have to get a MSI Card cause that’s the only other brand I know that has decent RMA where I live.
MSI is dead to me because of the way the treat reviewers.
I am sure Gamers Nexus will review some AIB cards, wait for that.
as much as I wanna support reviewers Ima pretty selfish individual so if they perform they perform. Msi is good in my area cause it’s an hour to 2 hour drive for me to get to their RMA Facility to just do a in person drop off so I can make a day trip for that if it ever comes to that. MSi has been shady lately especially with the scalping debacle recently as well
ooh just a bitmore research looks like XFX has a pretty consistently solit reputation in canada , powercolor is kinda wonky. and of course ASUS is the worst. which amazes as they should have great rma as they are super popular as well as have mostly reliable parts
I only say mostly cause whoever works on asus’s peripheral department needs to be fired
To be honest… They aren’t quite dead to me… yet. They’ve gotten on my bad side, no doubt, but they aren’t on my bad side. Biggest reason I have a ThermalFake case is cause it fit my budget, size requirements (though was still a little tall, and I was not about to go mini-ITX), and had a mesh front panel. I will neither confirm, nor deny eyeballing an M311L to swap in it’s place. Beyond that, the Lancool II Mesh or PC-011 Dynamic will be what I use for my next build (as of right now). If the Unifan would ever come in stock, then you bet your ass I’d be buying at least one set.
That is neither here nor there though. If MSI hits more check boxes then their competition, or if nothing else appeals to me, then I will probably build with an MSI product.
They used to make good cards in the R7 and R9 series days.
Their 5700xt Thicc is absolutely horrible thermal and noise wise.
