The eddy on netflix steve guttenberg recommended.
If you have a color-calibrated TV and like Chinese Fantasy/wuxia action don’t miss Yin-Yang Master: Dream of Eternity. The story might not be that great, but the acting, the sets, the CGI, and the colors, oof (especially noticeable in daytime frames with human skin, cloth and wood), … are just reference-grade. Every movie should be this good on technicalities (as opposed to Hollywood’s infamous “teal and orange” crime against humanity).
Kill Bill (lol)
Pulp Fiction
Inglorious Basterds
Once Upon a Time
Reservoir Dogs
H8ful 8
Django
Jackie Brown

I will throw a few in the hat:
Moonlight - film about coming to terms with sexuality in a very toxic environment. one of my favourite character studies
Paths of Glory - kubrick gem set in the middle of ww1. it depicts the punishment dolled out after a failed charge
Marriage Story - fantastically acted movie showing the lifespan of a relationship, peaks and valleys included
Holy shit no wonder foreign films look so different. I always found chinese films are often super colorful and new ones are super HD same with japanese film. Korean film to me is the closest to what we have in the west but still more colorful a good example is parasite where it did have a bit of the teal and orange but was a very green and often grey movie
Last night Netflix told me that they had just added Rush. For years this had been my favorite car movie (it’s now a close second to Ford vs. Ferrari). Ron Howard really did a fantastic job making this film about the mid-late '70s James Hunt/Niki Lauda rivalry…
Obviously if you’ve not watched Ford vs. Ferrari you need to watch that as well…
@su_zaku if you’re into character studies and you’ve not seen it, I suggest The Station Agent. Great movie with an absolutely fantastic, at the time relatively unknown, cast.
Movie night tonight, I will run this by the group thanks
I just pressed play on The Snyder Cut, I’m not 10 minutes in and what do I see? >_< Well if it isn’t our old friends teal and orange. @#$%@#$%@#$% Hollywood.
Has anyone watched the HK movie Infernal affairs? Its the original to The departed made in the States.
They had a scene about wires!
Has anyone else seen any “audiophile” talk in scenes for other movies?
What horror movies have good sound design?
One movie reviewer said saw was pretty good.
Big Narcos guy over here.
Also big Sopranos guy, but The Many Saints of Newark sucked. It was too all over the place and the pacing was off.
Many saints wasnt bad, good enough to greenlight a sequel. Which think is going to flop. Warner should have keep it a series of movies. Look what happened to X-files
Narcos mexico season 3 9/10 .
The Eternals… what a disaster that was.
Its was definitely in the “meh” section.
