Recently watched that for the first time and oh man did I have a blast.
Perhaps after watching that one, you should follow it up with The Disaster Artist, movie based about on how they made The Room starring James Franco as Tommy Wiseau.
That’s actually how I found out about The Room! About half an hour into that one I got so curious about its source material that I paused it and watched The Room first. Both are pretty great in their own way.
Do it. Let it wash over you. It’s an experience film.
Amazing soundtrack
^Mandy is great, yes. Much better than Panos Cosmatos’ Beyond the Black Rainbow, I thought. I barely made my way through that one.
Dazed and Confused - no real plot, just great soundtrack and some youth hanging out in 76`
Some time ago i started a re-watch of the older Tarantino movies. As i started with reservoir dogs, then pulp fiction and jackie brown. All three great movies. So tonight i started a “Kill Bill” binge, watching both only with a “snack break” in between them.
Remember when Kill Bill was released i was a bit disappointed after the excellent Jackie Brown, but i think i enjoyed it more now. Perhaps its the fact that i knew what i was getting into this time around, or that i have seen more of the kind of material he references, im not sure… The sword fighting scenes in the last 50min or so of part1 actually has some nice choreography and cinematography. And as per usual Tarantino hits home with his pick of music through out the movies.
Just watched the movie “Upgrade”. xD Kinda cool. Never seen a movie ending like it before.
Yep liked that one too
The eddy on netflix steve guttenberg recommended.
If you have a color-calibrated TV and like Chinese Fantasy/wuxia action don’t miss Yin-Yang Master: Dream of Eternity. The story might not be that great, but the acting, the sets, the CGI, and the colors, oof (especially noticeable in daytime frames with human skin, cloth and wood), … are just reference-grade. Every movie should be this good on technicalities (as opposed to Hollywood’s infamous “teal and orange” crime against humanity).
Kill Bill (lol)
Pulp Fiction
Inglorious Basterds
Once Upon a Time
Reservoir Dogs
H8ful 8
Django
Jackie Brown

I will throw a few in the hat:
Moonlight - film about coming to terms with sexuality in a very toxic environment. one of my favourite character studies
Paths of Glory - kubrick gem set in the middle of ww1. it depicts the punishment dolled out after a failed charge
Marriage Story - fantastically acted movie showing the lifespan of a relationship, peaks and valleys included
Holy shit no wonder foreign films look so different. I always found chinese films are often super colorful and new ones are super HD same with japanese film. Korean film to me is the closest to what we have in the west but still more colorful a good example is parasite where it did have a bit of the teal and orange but was a very green and often grey movie
Last night Netflix told me that they had just added Rush. For years this had been my favorite car movie (it’s now a close second to Ford vs. Ferrari). Ron Howard really did a fantastic job making this film about the mid-late '70s James Hunt/Niki Lauda rivalry…
Obviously if you’ve not watched Ford vs. Ferrari you need to watch that as well…
@su_zaku if you’re into character studies and you’ve not seen it, I suggest The Station Agent. Great movie with an absolutely fantastic, at the time relatively unknown, cast.
Movie night tonight, I will run this by the group thanks
I just pressed play on The Snyder Cut, I’m not 10 minutes in and what do I see? >_< Well if it isn’t our old friends teal and orange. @#$%@#$%@#$% Hollywood.
Has anyone watched the HK movie Infernal affairs? Its the original to The departed made in the States.
They had a scene about wires!
Has anyone else seen any “audiophile” talk in scenes for other movies?
What horror movies have good sound design?
