New reason to take the PC to a repair shop (or a techie friend) where they can do the install behind a machine running a VPN to some EEA country.
my client was on a VPN into their California office, still no bueno.
They can do the activation by phone. They just skip it when installing, then there’s an option to call in with the code and get an activation number.
we’re not talking about activation, we’re talking about setting your location during the installation phase.
I see, yeah they’d have to be offline when installing, select location, then call in the registration so the geolocation doesn’t give them problems. There’s the Windows 10/11 surplus key sellers that offer a huge discount, but they’re keys licensed in India so you have to do it that way if you’re anywhere else. Legitimate keys, but they encourage the phone registration if anywhere else.
Short of them putting the router on a VPN temporarily of course, might be less hassle if they have it.
