Great selections, guys. Welcome to Saturday night. I have been playing around with the amps tonight, going back and forth etc. Tried the Radiance on the LP tonight. It was really good. But I like these cans better on the SH-9. Anyway, enjoying something a little different to start.

Hifiman HE560 V1s driven by the GS-X Mini with the Gustard R26 decoding all the bits and pieces being sent to it by my Wiim Mini/phone.

For music, Iā€™m checking out a 2015 release by a prog outfit named The Cryptex entitled Madeleine Effect. I cam across this band a little whike back on Bandcamp and I liked their more recent album Once Upon a Time so I bought a few other studio and lives albums they had up including this one. I never got around to checking it out so the wee hours of the morning during another post-show comedown seemed like as good a time as any to see if this album is all about. A couple tracks in and Iā€™m digginā€™ what Iā€™m hearing so far.

Gavin Harrison is an absolute beast behind the kit! One of my favorites, for sure. Itā€™s cool to see him getting some love on here. :+1::metal::sunglasses:

Ah, Sunday. Easter Sunday to boot. I am on the mighty 2808 in the bedroom, and having fun with some Snarky Puppy. Interesting though, because using the V40 to stream AMHD I am listening to the Dolby Atmos version of the album! Very different to my ear the way Atmos is presenting the music. Very fun!

Taking a late evening walk through a pretty calm city on this Easter Sunday (no shows on Easter) and having a listen while I explore. For my walk I went with the Ikko OH10s that my girl finally forwarded to me about a week ago out and paired them with my A&K Kann Alpha. These OH10s are quite fun and are much more versatile than I was expecting. From descriptions I figured the bass would be too strong for most genres, but instead Iā€™ve found that theyā€™re much more balanced, though still unabashedly v shaped, than I anticipated. :+1::sunglasses:

For music, Iā€™m listening to Marbinā€™s 2021 live release, Shreddinā€™ At Sweetwater, for the second time in a few days. Iā€™m really quite taken with this album. Not only is it musically diverse and engaging with influences from many genres and styles, but lead guitarist Dani Rabin is just off the chain with some ridiculous fretwork. The title of this album is apt indeed, as Rabinā€™s lightning fast solos and tuneful melodies really are the star for much of the album.

Thatā€™s not to say that the other musicians are forgotten. Danny Markovitch really does a remarkable job playing the sax, laying down some wonderfully dynamic passages that donā€™t go unnoticed by any means. He also has some solo and bridge efforts that are blazing fast and live up to the albumā€™s title every bit as much as the guitar playing. Bassist Jon Nadel puts together some awesome funky bass lines that provide an ever changing, but always solid back drop for the lead instruments while drummer Everette Benton sits back in the pocket and does an amazing job keeping his playing understated and solid as the foundation for everything else going on over it. All together, these guys are top shelf musicians with great chemistry and the tight playing and perfect feel demonstrated on this album prove it. I cant believe recommend this one highly enough. Whether you want ti have fun, listen critically and be musically engaged, or something in between, this one has something for everyone.

Something about bunnies, chocolate, and the resurrection of Christ made me think this is a perfect time for some Pink Floyd. Iā€™ve never listened to their albums chronologicaly , so with the help of Qobuz and a higher-than-normal jelly bean intakeā€¦letā€™s start in 1967ā€¦

This is going to be a good project! Enjoy.

Currently Iā€™ve got the SoftEars Twilights plugged into the Fiio BTR7 because Iā€™m about to go for another walk. Feelinā€™ kinda restlessā€¦

On deck in the queue is a cool album from 2021: Greta Van Fleetā€™s The Battle at Gardenā€™s Gate. If you ever wondered what Zepplin might sound like recording on modern gear, hereā€™s your chance to hear it. Now, Iā€™m not saying theyā€™re that good, but they have a very similar sound and energy (by design I would imagine) and they actually pull it off pretty damn well. Their lead singer practically sounds like heā€™s channeling Robert Plant at times. The drummer and the guitarist arenā€™t on Bonham and Page levels, but theyā€™re pretty good at what they do. Overall, I think these guys are fun to listen to and they can consider me a fan. You should check them out!

That is an amazing album. The Weight of Dreams is my favorite song of theirs.

Greta Van Fleet just released a single today on YouTube for added bonus.

Wow, I had no idea they dropped a new single. I know that theyā€™ve been recording for a new album, but hadnā€™t seen that. Thanks for the heads-up! Itā€™s nice to see another Greta fan!

Taking a break from my journey through Pink Floydā€™s albums, I wanted to break out my Maestro Minis and explore a few soundtracks. Wow! Hanz Zimmer and the MM are a beautiful match.

In addition to the obvious 2049 track (love that bass drop and the following chord) I also use Mesa quite
often. Great OST

Absolutely fantastic, straight forward, indie rock with some pretty analog bass guitar and kick drum forward mastering.

I love when bands allow the bass guitar to drive the music, leaving the guitar as an almost accent piece. Nice little discovery tonight on Apple Music :handshake:

Sometimes it hits, but when it does, it hits.

Love it. I have listened to a few of theirs now and I keep coming back to this one. I mean, they are all good, but this one stands out for me.
