Man, another pretty interesting find. As I get deeper into this one, the more I am enjoying it. There is some excellent work being done here. “Alone” is a beautiful song. Very nice, indeed. I love discovering new stuff! For whatever reason, I am really enjoying the Radiance coming directly from the SA-1 tonight.
AMHD > Douk U2 Pro > Schiit Bifrost 2 > Singxer SA-1 > Focal Radiance
Alright, lads and lasses, I am finishing strong this evening. This is probably my favorite album from this amazing group. I won’t get it all in tonight, but that’s OK. More to look forward to tomorrow. This is… “The Astonishing”.
Jazzin’ today with the Cascades w/cloth pads and #1 filters installed.
Started with Red Clay, then went to Blue Train, followed by four Donald Byrd albums and now into Makaya McCraven - Deciphering the Message.
Very fun day so far!
I was able to finish “The Astonished” this morning. I haven’t listed to the Sundara in a while, so I did something fun and hooked them up to this crazy tube hybrid I have, the TA-20. It matches up with the Bifrost 2 extremely well. I just put a new cable on the Sundara and it’s remarkable how nice they sound on this chain. I am always surprised by how much fun I have listening to this amp. Throw in the Sundara and a nice EQ tune and it’s shockingly good, at least to my ear. especially with this technical prog rock groove.
AMHD > Douk U2 Pro > Schiit Bifrost 2 > XDuoo TA-20 > HiFIMAN Sundara
EDIT: As I Was enjoying the Sundara, I looked over and saw the EDXS sitting there. So, I pulled a quick switch… The EDXS is better. In every way! That is no indictment of the Sundara though. I do still enjoy them, and they sound amazing on the bedroom system. But yeah, the XS is super good on the hybrid.
Good pick and good advice from @AUDave a couple posts later. I dig all of PSA’s albums, but I think Only Passing Through and Prehensile Tales are a cut above.
Rig this morning is the Audeze MM-500s plugged into the Schiit Lyr with the Modi Multibit 2 decoding all the bits from my laptop.
Every now and again I like to revisit a band I haven’t listened to in a while and reacquaint myself with their catalog. Today I’m continuing my run through Anubis’ discography with their 2017 effort, The Second Hand. It starts off a bit slow, but once they hit their stride, this album shapes up pretty nicely.
Laying down to chill and hopefully catch a few Zs before I have to get up and catch my flight home to SoCal. Right now I have the CFA Supermoons plugged into my Cayin N8ii.
At the top of my queue is a 2004 release from Karcius entitled Sphere. This album has a lot of styles and influences apparent throughout. Give it a listen and you’ll hear everything from prog and metal to jazz, blues, and funk.
