Ok, I’m following you and I’m interested. Might have to dig into these more. Without having tried a lot of decent IEMs yet, I’m just not sure exactly what I want in a daily driver set. I know I like the BLON, but that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t like a different sort of sound for different moods. The iT03 is definitely priced reasonably at 200 right now.
Yo what’s up ?here are my 2 cents.I own the tin t4 and the fearless audio 6rui .The sound signature aren’t in the same ballpark as the blon03.So to compare them is pretty lame .In my opinion the t4 and 6rui are more balanced than the BLON3. I would say the 6rui I superior to the t4 ,but so is the price.Keep your money in the bank, until you have enough to drop a grand on the sony zr1. Other than that I’d suggest you look out for sound signature comparison, what do you want , a set of iem with the same signature?more balanced i.e a Harman curve, a v shape? My iem library tends to be diverse t4,kzs10pro, blon03,6rui, dm6.Who knows what I want to listen to that day ,you know?,so I suggest get different sound signatures and grow from there.
Yeah this seems to be the direction I’m heading. My sampling of different sound signatures is small right now. In IEMs I’ve only owned the BL-03, ZSX, and QKZ VK4. The BLON has been the winner so far, but I’m not opposed to trying new things. Especially since my musical interests are pretty wide. How do you like your S6 Rui? That one is pretty interesting to me.
I love them I would say they’re are more detail oriented. They aren’t crazy amazing but they’re different, for example the bass in the BLON3 plus the detail and the mids make the BLON3 more fun for edm hip hop.The 6rui are more preferred when listening to classic rock ,if I were to listen to rap hip hop .They dont lack anything just compared to the blon3s bass they dont compete.Something that does suck on the fearless is my tips either foam/silicone tend to get stuck in my ear canal .
So if you all are willing to bear with me, let’s change the game a little bit. What IEMs have you heard recently that you thought are interesting and worth a look? Why do you like them? Don’t need to be similar to the BL-03 in sound signature. I’d prefer to keep the budget below $300. ($200 and below would be even better.) Thanks guys! Honestly the search and conversations are half the fun for me at this point in time.
So not me but recently Resolve reviews said the moondrop blessing 2 ($320) were a monster value. Likened them to the andromeda’s. I don’t have a great read on his taste though as most of the stuff he likes I’ve never tried. Maybe something to keep on your radar though
Seems like he mostly reviews higher end stuff. I like his approach and the reviews I’ve seen. He has that new channel too that seems to be in collaboration with headphones.com. I can’t find a review on either of his channels for them. Did he mention them in another video?
All the current Moondrop iems should have Harman tuning. The higher prices will be increased technicality, but the sound signature should be the same. People have already been talking about the Starfield in these forums, and the Blessing 2 and S8 just refine it further. The S8s are very nice now that I’ve found a good tip match
yeah it was in the video with max settings they were talking about things they liked at canjam
Edit: video link not sure when it comes up unfortunately. Was just kind of listening to it while i was working
Edit again with the right video lol
yeah they brought that tuning up, and the guest max settings said exactly that. The s8’s are a refined version
Gotta say those Starfields are a real good lookin’ set. Might be a way for me to dip my toe into more neutral waters.
Plus there is this: https://crinacle.com/2020/02/22/the-midfi-moondrop-shootout-kanas-pro-vs-kxxs-vs-starfield/
What is your audio source?,if you are using your phone for iems ,maybe your best bet is getting a dap.I know it’s a hastle for some to carry dedicated music player around but the sound quality is what you are looking and will appreciate,a 3.5mm jack wont give you the same audio quality as a balanced 2.5 or 4.4mm source.
At my desk I have a D10 / Liquid Spark stack, I haven’t upgraded my portable setup yet but I have my eyes on the iFi Hip Dac in the near future.
So your iem usage is on a desktop set up?
It will be at work. I like to rotate between over ears and IEMs at different times. On the go I use my phone.
Sounds good I wasnt happy with the low power my note 8 delivered on my iem ,plus the 6rui are very sensitive so a would hear alot of hissing. My m11 fixed that and I hear a big improvement in the sound of my iems.Thats why I believe investing in a dap is better than chasing the next popular iem .
I went ahead and purchased the Shozy Form 1.1 today off Amazon. The estimated delivery is next week (the 6th). I was on the fence between them and the Starfield. I ended up choosing them because of the slightly lower cost, the strong rec on Youtube from @hawaiibadboy , and the much faster estimated delivery. (Moondrops looked like they were about a month out.) I think I’m going to stay in the lower tier for a little bit until I know better what sound signature I want to really invest in down the road.
Welp, I ended up getting the Starfield after reading this thread lol
Got it on ebay so it’ll get here in a week instead of the month on amazon. I’m hype.
Please let me know your impressions after you get them!
