Looking for recomendations on audio(total noob) with a flexible budget $500~

The 1990 is pretty sweet, also as you pointed out the analytical pads are a fair bit better imo

Do all dacs go through usb input?

So to connect a dac to a component you can use USB, toslink (optical spdif), coax spdif, or more obscure/pro connections like I2S, AES, or spdif over BNC

In your case, just use USB to get everything working properly lol. Also for good measure in your settings install the drivers and set the rate in settings to 24 bit 96khz

Hah yeah when I was testing, switching to the dac over rca, quality goes up but I need to switch to the schitt driver for audio. If it’s over RCA the dac isn’t in use.

That’s correct

That alone gives the xduoo the advantage for my usage at least.

Hmm, the xduoo running on USB as well?

I’ve used it on both the usb and aux but there doesn’t seem to be any quality change between the two.

Very interesting, it’s most likely because the Asgard is higher resolving

What’s that mean?

It’s a higher tier amp and dac solution, it can bring more detail and quality to the headphones
