Looking for recomendations on audio(total noob) with a flexible budget $500~

I don’t know about that but I have a question. You can use the dt1990 on the xduoo perfectly without having to crank the gain up and not get the hiss you got with the 880 right?

You can use the dt1990 with high boost and medium gain. I can’t hear no hiss anyway.

I only get the hissing past around 11 o clock on the volume knob at the highest gain setting with or without boost enabled. If I use the first two gain settings on both the dt880s and dt1990s the hissing stops. It’s very interesting the the HD660s didn’t have this issue.

To pass 11 o’clock in high gain is to get close to death.

Yeah i’m controlling it with the volume slider on the goxlr so I figured I’d just keep it high on the xd-05 plus or is that bad practice?

I think you should keep it on low or mid for the cleanest sound. Unless you really need more volume of course

Yeah I normally keep it around 2 o clock and my goxlr is at around half

Yeah if I go past 11 I hear it just in the background. I guess the beyerdynamics are just sensitive? It was weird when it didn’t happen with the HD660s.

Yeah I don’t know the science behind it but I think it’s because the 880 and 1990 really are making the xduoo plus work hard for all the juice or something. I don’t have any particularly hard to drive headphones so I can’t say for sure

It’s moreso the higher load the more demand put on the amplifier, also noise floor is just higher on the xduoo compared to other amps

Interesting on the asgard I could hit the volume I wanted no problem + no hiss

Yes, the Asgard has way more headroom and a lower noise floor. There’s only so much you can squeeze out of a portable for demanding headphones

Tbh it’s so close I think i’ll just settle down with it and not blast my ears hahaha oh and i’ll keep the 1990s for sure
