Looking to upgrade from Koss stuff for music

Personally I’d take the 58x over the Meze’s.
The Meze 99’s are a very colored headphone, not necessarily a bad 2nd or 3rd headphone, but it’s not for everyone.

Colored how? It sounds very balanced to me, with added bass, and a wide soundstage. clear. very nice. i like it better than the sennheisers

True, veil doesnt properly describe it. i should say it has recessed treble, right?

Does Drop still have that $20 off sale for brand new customers? That may help the OP with a decision on 58x or 6xx with that extra amount off.

Yes, I got it when I signed up, you just have to activate it. I couldn’t use mine since I got something that was less than 50.

very big bloated bass almost consumer tuning with sharp treble to the very sensitive people

Do you have one? You need to try the bigger pads. Bass is fine and treble is fine. all sounds good to me

Yeah, there’s a reason these get called ‘audiophile Beats’ so much lol.

nope but Im want one because I like how it sounds stock . its the kind of sound Im looking for for my next headphone

If you like them that’s great, nothing wrong with that. Just know they aren’t very accurate or detailed compared to other similar headphones. But again, the most important aspect of this hobby is having fun, and if you have fun with them, great!

Oh god. its sounds terrible stock. i dont remember what pads came with it but do yourself a favor and use the bigger deeper firmer pads with it. the smaller pads makes it sound like theres something wrong with it.

Check any review of it on the web. everyone loves it. I just did a review of 5 headphones under 200$ and it won. sounded better than all of them.

i found them very detailed

different stroke for different folks my guy I really enjoyed the time I had with them. they are a fun bassy headphone just what Im looking for in alcosed back. most audiophiles aren’t into it thats why I dont consider myself one.

Well, that can certainly be in the eye of the beholder.

no, you dont understand. dont use those pads! it will destroy your ears! for gods sake man!

seriously though, its not a matter of peference. the small pads make it sound like theres something wrong with it. they sound thin and sibilant.

thats pretty easy to fix if I find it that way. I like a brighter can sometimes and my trebel sensitivities are pretty specific. but like I said I heard them stock and enjoyed them maybe it’s the music you listen to cause I know for a fact and yours and my taste differ pretty significantly

I dont think so. this could be the reason you underestimate them so. if we can find the right pads for them. pads that could tighten the bass. we may create the greatest headphones that ever existed. Or just a really nice pair of cans :stuck_out_tongue:

I like the loose bass though the distorion that happens when a track’s bass is to heavy adds to the fun. like I said. your under estimating my tastes it’s pretty wide and varried and I can enjoy a lot of things many may not.

Careful there…

Sorry. i know you know your stuff. Its just there was such a large difference in pads. and the small pads sounded so bad to me i couldnt listen to them for more than a few minutes. just horribad.

Crazy how much of a difference the other pads made. they arnt that much bigger. you know it could be the size of my head. i always thought it was a medium sized head. but maybe its crushing the smaller pads too much. the bigger pads where firmer.
