Luxury Precision P6/P6 Pro R2R DAP

@M0N TYVM for the detailed break down. Im excuited to see where you think it stands against the desktop side of things once you get some more time with it

had to look that one up and even still couldnt find reviews. Whats up with it?

I can already say that from memory this surpasses the spring 2 kte in multiple ways and equals in others when used line out, which I was really not expecting this when I was waiting for the pro

Lots and lots of things

But really. This has got me real excited. That is just fucking incredible out of a dap. Out of curiosity, since we now having a dac that is seemingly up to snuff with kilobuck desktop gear, do you think there is a portable amp out there that is of a similar quality? The BX2Plus obviously has gobs of power, but im kinda skeptical about just how resolving it si tbh

@M0N does this pretty much render the Hugo 2 as obsolete? Speaking just as an all in one portable

BX-2+ is pretty sweet, and yeah, gobs of power. Iā€™ve only used it with my N6ii so far, but looking forward to pairing with the P6 Pro inbound.

Hm so I wish, Iā€™m sure there is, but I canā€™t say I found one yet. I guess something like the broadway counts but thatā€™s more transportable than portable

Itā€™s actually much more resolving than you think it would be, but itā€™s also really dependent on the source you are feeding it for itā€™s resolution, I will say it really depends on what you are planning to drive. For example for the infinity mk2 from the short time I threw on the bx2 I liked straight out of the player more than with the bx2 as the bx2 kinda felt more like a bottleneck, but with a diana v2 the bx2 was an improvement, so it will really depend on the headphone, I wouldnā€™t buy it for iems tbh. Itā€™s a killer amp for the price, but itā€™s very dependent on source quality to get there imo. I guess other points of comparison would be something like the phatlab phantasy ii, woo wa8 or wa11, bakoon hpa-01, vorzuge vorzamp duo ii, etc with the bx2+ but I donā€™t want to have to run all those down and compare right now lol

As an all in one I canā€™t see any situation where Iā€™d rather have the hugo personally imo, (although Iā€™m sure if I thought about it long enough I could find one), as the pro outperforms when it comes to both dac and amp performance (but the normal p6 already did that for me anyways to some extent but there are still times where I may have wanted a hugo)

Cool, thank you. More or less what I expected since the Hugo is in a bit of need for a 3.0. None of these are in my immediate purchase plans, but Iā€™m always keeping an eye on them. For my needs as 70% iem and 30% headphone, I still think Iā€™m good with the M15, but I know I am trading some finesse for the extra power when its not needed

have you had a chance to check out the cayin C9 yet? it might be a contender

also on another note, with the pro version out the regular p6 should hopefully be more common on the used market soonā€¦ im pretty sure I know the answer to this already but P6 (non-pro) still worth it? Also coming from a Questyle QPM how noticble would the jump be and what kinda differences should i expect?

Yes for sure

If you go from the m15 to the p6 pro you would def be taking multiple steps forward

Letā€™s just say this has been the only IEM Iā€™ve run into (purchased or demoed) that I felt was worth the MSRP.

Hopefully I will get to hear it fairly soon, as long as I get time to visit a friend

Absolutely as long as you can get past the all button control scheme and donā€™t mind a more simplistic player (as both P6 are off the table for anyone who wants streaming or android, but you could stream to it via bluetooth if needed)

From the qpm to p6, for UI expect a more barebones and less polished interface, sound wise expect a much much lower noise floor and blacker background, a more spacious sound overall and better separation, better extension on both ends, less tonal density and richness but similar smoothness, more impactful and also more dynamic pretty easily. Timbre wise the qpm does do a really good job there, so the p6 has a smaller advantage there.

Same here for sure, totally worth

The idea is that the upgrade is somewhere. I had the Hugo 2 in the back of my mind since Iā€™ve heard it and liked it, but that was a few years ago so I would definitely research a bit before the upgrade-just keeping mental listsā€¦

For the amount of use I get from it, I expect there will be something newer and better by the time I get a new DAP, but the idea of it outclassing high end desktop DACs is going to make me remember it. I still think my ambiguous upgrade path is M Scaler, LCD 4, Utopia, and the RAAL SR1a/HSA-1b combo and JBL L100Classics for speakers in no particular order, but tomorrow I may be craving e-stats. The nice thing and the reason I havenā€™t been quite as active, is that I am really content at the moment. Broke too, but content is the reason Iā€™m giving

Oh? Quite interesting. Have you had hands on mest? I donā€™t have that wide of a breath of experience, but its the one iem Iā€™ve tried I feel stacks up well against over ears in its price range

Gotcha gotcha, you at the moment have a qutest right? Personally Iā€™d say the p6 proā€™s dac performance could potentially be an upgrade from a stock qutest, but if you added an mscaler that wouldnā€™t be the case

Content is a nice place to be :+1:

You could always run hqplayer into the p6 pro as well.

Different dacs will react differently to upsampling and upscaling, the mscaler does much much more to the sound than does software upscaling. Personally I have found the best results using exclusive modes on the LP players rather than upsampling or upscaling. I have thought of getting a nice hardware upsampler like an auralic sirius g2.1 for other dacs but never really have made the push

Hahaha. Fair enough. If you ever do feel like doing a portable amp shootout I would lersonaly be extremely interested. Iā€™m portable only, but realy love me some planar so Iā€™m currious about if I can even get close to a desktop setup of like a spring/gsx-mini for stuff like arya, diana, etc

Interesting. I wasnā€™t aware that different devices handled it differently (other than r2r obviously handling it differently from ds, but with holo stuff seemingly handling it well I kinda figured this would too)
