Just ordered some, hopefully they help! Iām curious to hear some reviews on the new Moondrop KATO. If it has a similar nozzle and design of the Aria but the sound quality is improved, might end up being exactly what Iām looking for.
Nice! I also use IEMs to play competitive shooter titles with, namely Valorant at diamond level, which is pretty high rank
You can tip roll with CP100 or Radius Deep Mount to get rid of that low treble dip.
Sorry for my ignorance, what exactly is āTip Rollingā?
Use 3rd party tips instead of stock tips that come with the box.
Ah ok, I order the CP100ās to see if it helps with comfort. Thank you!
Tip rolling means passing an iem trough your tip collection. Every iem is different, every ear canal is different
Tip collection is the most important thing in iem collections, basicly
And also what Iāve just realized recently, itās not like if youāre size M on a particular tip, then youāre size M across ALL types of tips.
Due to the nozzle being different on all IEMs and the shape / material / hardness / softness of different tips, it very much changes the sizes you need in order to get a perfect seal with your ear canal.
Especially Azla eartips, itās one size bigger across all their tips.
I struggled with tip comfort on Teas until trying spinfit cp500ā¦heavenly fit, and didnāt overboost pinna like cp100 seemed to.
Donāt. Itās probably going to be the KXXS just with tuning filters. The price also reflects that premise.
Moondrop have been pulling this recycling of the same IEM for a long time now. Donāt fall for it.
If you want a real IEM with tuning filters, get the LZ A7.
Yap. Itās probably gonna be the old āso you enjoy harman? Get oxygen insteadā (or hanna) type of iem. Thereās also a point to be made for a certain 50usd hawaian iem š¤·
I feel silly, I just tried the black tips with the slits on top and they are WAY more comfortable than the tips with the red insert.
The red insert is what was digging into my ears. MUCH better now.
Iām still going to try the spinfits, but these tips are way better for comfort. I also donāt need to insert as far with these and I get a great seal
My test song for imaging is āFear Inoculumā by Tool. Sounds amazing on these. When the drums come in around 1:50 you can almost see the sticks going across the set. The bongo sweep at 4:35 is incredible.
Listening to metal, you can def hear the 5.5k dip. Electric guitars are missing their ābiteā. With my EQ settings it brings it back and really balances these out. I highly recommend a bit of EQ with these.
I love great imaging. My Sundara and TYGR 300R do very well with this song as well.
The Mele in comparison is disappointing with this song. Just a blob of sound for the drums.
Thatās kinda apples to peaches to oranges comparitions, but glad to see youāre enjoying the Teas more now
Against the Mele, true. But the other 3 are not to far off in terms of price.
For Metal, the Sundara is without question the winner. Has the most detail for electric guitars and handles the complexity of metal the best. Imaging for music is also extremely good.
For Rap/HipHop, the Teas are really good and the Mele is great for sub-bass heavy music without a lot else going on.
The TYGR is the best for FPS gaming, hands down. The Teas are not bad for gaming and prob the best IEM Iāve ever used for gaming.
The Mele is the only one I donāt EQ though, so def well tuned.
Itās not about just the priceā¦
Single DD vs Hibrid vs Open back vs Closeback
50$ budget IEM vs 300$ Kingpin IEM vs 350$ Kingpin of budget planar open backs vs A good imaging closed back
For sure, thatās why I own them all, they are all very different. But they are also all different headphones someone would be considering in this price bracket.
TYGR is open back by the way.
The Sundara really is a āGiant Killerā as I donāt think thereās anything thatās an upgrade to it for over ears, especially with some EQ, until you get well over $1k. Thereās other headphones that offer different features/benefits, but none would be a clear āupgradeā.
I find the comparisons interesting, I had always wondered about the IEM vs. Over ears comparison. Itās def complicated. Thereās really good options at each price bracket with both. To be fair, initial investment is higher on open backs as you def need an amp for most decent ones vs. an apple dongle is perfect for most IEMs.
For bass heads though, IEMās are def the way to go. You just canāt get really deep and powerful sub-bass with most open backs.
Sound stage is much better on open back though from everything Iāve tested.
Just tip rolled a bit on my Mangird Teas (Finally) and ended up with a new winner. E-pro horn ep00. Better slam and stage so far. They go very deep but since Teas are a shallow fit, I can handle it just fine
Need to order ep01 tho
Interesting, so you prefer it over RDM? The RDM package just arrived, I think my ears are similar to yours actually.
