Iām only patient because I am waiting for another IEM to understand better the sound signature I like/dislike.
Anybody here has listened to the Tea and the IE300? I am perplexed by the Sennheiser FR and dip in the upper mids. What does it do to the sound besides boosting the bass?
Makes a big DAFUK. Senn have a strange setting that few people like, the midrange is concave a lot! The bass is good, but nothing more if you want to listen only to the bass
Yeah, seems like it. Itās the same approach as campfire audio with honeydrew.
Result: messy mids, no pinna gain, tries to compensate on upper and mid treble
Senn hasnāt done anything for consumers for a long time! Too bad! I guess the IE900 will be a bag of shit, but with a little better hardware. Bad tuning of everything, and have the opportunity to work wonders with IEMs.
Ie900 is good judging by reviews. Even hbb liked it. Thing is the price plus you might need to eq the pinna gain a bit.
Precog bought one and just did that.
Let him be good. I was a big fan of Senn before I found out ChiFiā¦
The Tea can run circles around the IE300 imo.
I have returned my IE300, it has a nice bass presentation but the highs are a mess at least to my ears, it is the only set in which i found the sound signature to be dark and have sibilant highs at the same timeā¦
I think this confirms my opinion after watching this sound demo. It didnāt work me, too v shape and too warm sounding.
Nope, thatās a big red flag.
Perfect amp/dac for the Tea.
Have you ever tried closing the hole with anything, just to see if it still has the same sound signature as the none broken one?
Donāt go near that. That set is dead. That dude should not be asking for any money.
@nymz This is for anyone who can answer it, but Nymz, how clean is the BTR5 with the Tea-s? Right now i can use them only with one specific (dongle) DAC because everything else has a audible white noise / static when nothing is played. Only that one DAC is clean when nothing is played.
Hello and welcome to hfgf
Clean. Very clean for the price. I sold mine but used it for 4 months or so.
Have you all read this review? I really like the style - I love reading about the R&D that goes into IEM/headphone technology!

Iām really itching to pull the trigger on some Teas.
But the one thing Iām hinged on is the fit. Can anyone offer some insight?
My ears are on the kinda small side, like small-medium, and theyāre finicky. Iāve heard Teas have a smaller case compared to other custom-styled sets. I had some Thieaudio L3s before, which I understand are kind of middle-of-the-road in size. One ear felt perfect, the other was a bit of a squeeze against my antihelix (the top flap) and that caused annoyance. This was after tip-rolling with my rather large and varied tip collection. (didnāt care for the L3s due to the veil in mids).
Iāve tried a variety of IEMs and such and havenāt had good luck with fit. I like to wear IEMs for hours on end for work (with glasses) so I want at least a 2 hour session without taking them out for a break, and be able to pop them in again without aggravating any fit issues further. Main reason why I havenāt moved on from my Blon 03s since they just float with CP-100s, but after two hours the small amount of weight hanging on the cable gets to me.
Thanks for any insights.
My 2 cents - I donāt have L3s to compare with but I donāt think youāll have an issue with the shell size of the Teas. They do have a deeper insertion in to the canal than any other IEMs I have though and can take a bit of getting used to. For me it meant I dropped down a tip size on the Teas to small CP145s. Theyāre comfortable for me though and can wear them for hours with no issues, glasses wearer here too. As ever YMMV.
