No! The problem is in the suitability of the drivers, and especially DD.
This I needed to know!
Anyone know if the Thieaudio Oracle can perform or surpass the teas in terms of Imaging and/or Soundstage?
Hello, i owned the mangird tea 4 months ago with the 3.5mm config, the tea improve something with balanced connection?
i donĀ“t know if itĀ“s a better option buy only a dongle dac/amp unbalanced or move out to a balanced configuration.
If the source has the same exact chips for either SE or Balanced, sound will be the same, just more power. You dont need it, no.
Some sources that have both balanced and unbalanced output will use two chips (one per channel) for balanced output, and only one for for unbalanced, in which case balanced will technically be superior.
Thats what I saidā¦
Thatās not the same thing?? What I said only expands on your point for the unaware. You only said āifā but not everyone is gonna know how these multi input dac works.
Iām trying my hardest to resist a new pair of iems as these are so so good. I donāt know how some of you guys have multiple IEMs
Basicly, I chased down a Tea upgrade š¤·
Should have just bought another pair
Thank you for sharing this. My ears can be weird, in that if an iem has too much treble, it causes my tinnitus to flare up. With respect to the Tea, I have to keep the volume really low to avoid this happening, and with the volume really low, the tinnitus masks low frequencies. By adjusting the pre-amp to -6 and using a low shelf at 100 by 2db, this did the trick. Itās a small bump in the lows, but one that seems isnāt too much to negatively impact the drivers, yet I can better hear the lows.
Have you ever posted your own ranking list? Would be popcorn worthy around here I think.
Thatās how I feel about the starfields. Forever chasing a starfield upgrade.
On another note, the more Iāve learned about diy ba stuff the more Iām impressed by the teas. The driver configuration is pretty ingenious. Full ba sets are not very good value propositions because of how expensive good bass ba drivers are, dynamic drivers are very cheap and well performing in comparison for lows. What this allowed mangird to do is put all their budget into the 4 mid ba driversā¦ those 26 series sonion drivers are not cheap, theyāre very top end stuff. The only questionable choice to me are the two high frequency drivers, seems they used full range Knowles rad drivers? Those are pretty cheap and I donāt think they have great extension, on the other hand they are tried and true in a lot of reputable iems already. Twfk drivers would have cost slightly more but they would have gotten better treble extension out if it I think, but on the other hand, actual implementation, tuning, and how it plays with other drivers, etc is completely out of my scope so they probably knew better than me and used those rad drivers for a reason. Anyways, my point is, I think itās pretty ingenious of them to focus most of their allocated budget on the mid ba drivers and just good value/performance drivers for the highs and lows. Tangent aside the teas are actually very good value from what I can tell, I bet the profit margin on these are lower than most other iems in the same price bracket. Fun fact, the mid drivers they use in the teas are actually more expensive than the ones in the xenns ups, but then again the ups has wayyy better drivers for the highs.
No, because I personally feel itās a pointless endeavor that doesnāt really provide any helpful information to anyone but myself. Donāt think it would really add anything meaningful
I see what you mean, but some of us will be curious haha. Thanks for being awesome anyways!
Man the veedix silver string look almost the same as the mangird teas, apart from the resin pattern they use. Even the manufacturer provided graph looks almost the same as tea tuning Veedix Silver String Knowles Sonion Balanced Armature Dynamic 6BA+DD Hifi Music Monitor Studio 2Pin 0.78mm Audiophile Earphones|Earphones| - AliExpress
Itās also a 4 sonion + 2 knowles iem. Go figure. I wonder if its a tea clone, just with a different dynamic driver. PS I think the 9.2mm liquid silicon diaphragm dynamic driver is the same used in the seeaudio yume.
Iāll never get those, but Iām curious how much it does or does not sound like the Tea. Like, because the drivers and shell are almost the same, how close is the sound?
Nobody knows yet sadly. I hope somebody tries it and compares it for us, cause the graph looks almost identical to tea graphs. If it really is tuned the same it could potentially be a slightly better tea cause from what I understand the 9.2mm liquid silicone diaphragm driver is supposedly a bit better than your typical off the shelf titanium driver. Plus they included THD measurements, 0.3% is exceptionally low for a hybrid iem, most similar configuration iems are between 1-2% THD, even the dusk is 1% with its weird metallic timbre. Now 2% isnt enough to make an audible difference, and my FDX1 had under 0.15% THD but still has a weird metallic timbre, so it probably doesnt matter what the THD is but it may make a difference for some ppl who are sensitive to baās weird timbre since there is belief that itās caused by their weird third order harmonic distortion. Keyword here is may, im not claiming to know for sure or that any of this theory is valid. On the other hand, having less THD canāt be a bad thing, having low total harmonic distortion is surely a good thing? Honestly I would get these if I wasnt already more interested in getting the gs audio gt12x or st8b
As mentions of some QC issues with latest batches of Tea have been frequent, I am considering not to proceed with the purchase of a $300 pair, as itās a pricey gamble for me. Though I want them really bad.
What could be a cheaper alternative to Tea, which approximates its sound signature and technical qualities (especially soundstage)? My research so far makes me qualify TRI Starsea as a good ācheaper Teaā candidate.
Any other suggestions or experiences?
Yanyin Alladin has similar tuning AFAIK but donāt know much about technicalities. One canāt trust Penon shillers, at least I donāt trust them
