šŸ”¶ Mangird TEA (6 BA/1DD)

Haha I was just about to recommend the Aladdin!
IMO, they are very very good. Iā€™ve come across more than a dozen reviews, all praising them for their tuning and SQ. If you donā€™t trust reviewers, you can at least read the FR graph and judge for yourself: Squiglink - IEM frequency response database by Super* Review

Haha I didnā€™t mean to offend :grimacing:
What I was trying to say is, read reviews but trust more to those who paid units in full. Not those who received an item in exchange for an ā€œhonestā€ review or those who got them with huge discount.
Tuning is great but as I shall quote from headfi: graphs are 25%, tuning is 50% of the sound and last 25% are made of different things, materials, crossovers, driversā€¦ :joy:

No offense taken! I paid for mine  @rattlingblanketwoman recommended them to me, and I have no regrets at all. I only recommended the Aladdin here because some people whoā€™ve tried both the Tea and the Aladdin said they actually prefer the latter. Take with a grain of salt as Iā€™m a biased reader haha.
Not sure if weā€™re slowly going off topic though

I donā€™t trust penon shillers at all either after my penon orbs. On the other hand I think the graph looks nice. The veedix silver string also graphs almost exactly like the teas if the manufacturer graphs are anything to go by, and the driver configuration is very very similar and possibly close to the same (6+1 using 4 sonion and 2 knowles drivers), I think it at least uses a better dynamic driver.

It seemed criminal not to do this. Linsoul literally twisted my arm lol.

Had I one of those gift cards, my arm too would be twisted!

Enjoy and let us know your impressions.

I donā€™t mean to go off topic, but I canā€™t resist asking: Why Penon Audio are shillers? Two people here already mentioned that, and since Aladdin can only be purchased from this seller, Iā€™m wondering whatā€™s fishy with them and if itā€™s risky ordering from this store.

I have no idea tbh. Head-fi has many reviews on Penon products, including those from people who have purchased the IEMs themselves, without getting discounts or whatever perks from Penon.
There are healthy discussion threads on Yinyan Aladdin, Canon, and ISN H40, H50, over on Head-fi, and I doubt every poster there is somehow affiliated with Penon.

I didnt say theyā€™re shillers, I wast just saying im wary of penon audio shillers, as in people who shill their stuff. Im only wary of them because the penon orb got a ton of hype when they first came out, a lot of ppl were shilling the orb and h40. I got both, h40 was decent, orb was terrible (for their price) and is worth nowhere near their cost.

Ah, now I get itā€¦ Still, quite unfortunate their wares didnā€™t live up to your expectations. Do you still have them or theyā€™ve been already sold?

It might have been covered already, but for the love of me I cannot understand why Crinā€™s and BGGARs graphs (and subsequently, rankings) are so different. Especially in the mid to treble range.

Coupler/unit variation. On crinā€™s you gotta look the compensated one (the lower, grey one).

Donā€™t overthink it :smirk: pull the trigger :cookie:

I still have them. Penon as a store is fine, just didnā€™t like my penon orbs so Iā€™m wary of any penon branded iems

They are not that different if you see the non compensated one, the one on the bottom, with the grey line. It is quite similar to the BGGARā€™s one.

The upper one is compensated with his target, so it shows just the deviations from that target.

Just got me teas in today from linsoul. I was initially impressed but after a couple of minutes they sound very hot to me if you know what I mean.

But what really killed it is the right one buzzes around a certain freq range around vocals. Such a big disappointment as it was The biggest iem/headphone purchase to date. Is this a common problem?

What source are you running them through? Have you tried switching the cable around to see if itā€™s the cable or not? I thought my driver was messed up and I got a weird sound to mine but come to find out it was just a fitment issue I had and itā€™s solved but Iā€™m not that experienced in it but to cut that so called warm sound your getting definitely tip roll with the Teas. If none of that work contact linsoul they will work with you really well.

Seems Teas FR changed forever. Not a QC problem, as expected, but a revision. Sound and FR make this obvious. Teas are anything but hot or shouty as people on the last months reported. Guess Teas are back to the box and canā€™t be recced.

Sorry to hear you got a bad set

Yeah, thatā€™s not normal. Iā€™d contact seller.

If Tea are screaming, I donā€™t know how to call B2, O2, etc. ā€¦ Probably a hardware problem. It is also possible that they have a changed frequency response. Sad! I will not buy them again.

@nymz has anyone tried reaching out to them about the change on FR and asked why it was changed and whatā€™s up with everything. I know we talk a decent amount about things but I know I ran into some issues with mine but I seem to got mine worked out for the most part. Mine donā€™t sound shouty but I have had mine for 4 months now or so I might of got lucky. with all that being said if I did get the revision would really love to hear the old tea even if it never goes back to what it once was. Just shocked they would change something that wasnā€™t broke . Itā€™s an unfortunate thing but I guess thatā€™s what happens in this hobby with everything changing almost on a daily basis.
