šŸ”¶ Mangird XENNS UP

Donā€™t know how to say this without sounding salty, but differences in cables = measurable but inaudible in more than most cases. Swap the cables for the look or the feel, absolutely, but not the sound

Thatā€™s not being salty, thatā€™s being smart

I donā€™t believe in cables until Iā€™m proven wrong. I keep my mind open, but so far, nope.

Iā€™m quite optimistic about cables. For example the stock silver cable that came along with the Nighthawk headphone sounded really great compared with the aftermarket copper one I had to replace it with due to breakage.

Something was noticeably off with the new cable and I could never enjoy the Nighthawks the same way after that.

Eehmmmā€¦ Which aftermarket cable was that so we can avoid?

A generic ~$100 copper cable from AliExpress.
I wasnā€™t a cable believer until that thing ā€œgracedā€ my Nighthawks and by extension my ears.

Things got real murky and lost that nice 3D spatiality it is capable of.
It snapped after a month as well.

Is XENNS UP a good complementary set for my MOONDROP Variations? If so I have found my Christmas purchase

Yes! Opposites/complimentaries, IMO. You can find my comparition of the two in my reviews.

Another question, is there a ā€œcheaperā€ version of the Xenns Up that has the same tuning?

No, Xenns UP is different than everything Iā€™ve ever tried on.

What specifics are you looking for on it?

I can second what @nymz said. The Xenns Up is a special IEM for me as well in that itā€˜s unique among every IEM I ever owned / demoed.

Was it the Bass that caught your attention? Because thatā€˜s its strong suit. Itā€˜s so much and so good. But only for a few genres, which is what made me never go and buy it. HipHop, Rock, Metal - those go off on the Up.

My pair arrived earlier today, and I couldnā€™t be happier. I can also second the opinion that the UP compliments the Moondrop Variations. Where I find the Variations shines with electronic, k-pop groups, and female soloists, the UP does with '70s soft rock/ā€œyacht-rockā€, '90s hip-hop, city pop, and jazz-fusion. I found some of the music in my rotation a bit lackluster with the Variations (even using an eq preset meant to adjust to the Monarch MKIIā€™s tuning), so this completes the cycle for me.

Iā€™ve also received a notification my FiiO x Crinacle FHE Eclipse has shipped out, so Iā€™m curious if itā€™ll sound like a baby UP with a bass boost, or perhaps closer to the Clairvoyance (going off the graphs.)

Denafrips Ares II ā†’ Singxer SA-1 ā†’ XENNS UP

Buttery bliss. Takes the best aspects of the IEM and amplifies them, plus an audibly larger/diffuse soundstage compared to my DAP or Q5K.

When people are talking about the teaā€™s performance matching the 500 to 700 category u must be talking about chifi brand iem pricing.

The tea easily surpasses $1500 to $3000 American iems. American made iems are pretty much a joke under $1000. Maybe even $1500.

I have a pair of westone that costs $700 and they sound like mud compared to the teas.

I have a u18s that i bought like a jackass that costs $3000. From what Iā€™m hearing the up will likely sound better at less than a third of the price.

Did you ever compare the Up and FHE? Curious how it compares. Been looking at picking up the FHE myself and the Up is one of my favorites.

For my next adventure Iā€™m looking for something that has a similar fit with my Tea2 with a superb bass detail and forward vocals.

Iā€™m wondering, does the Xenns UP match my criteria or there is something that has a better bass?

I love my Up itā€™s always just a hard rec. Especially because itā€™s very unique in its presentation overall. Seems to be a very hit or miss if someone likes it. Itā€™s not a bass beast if your looking for that. Itā€™s more a slightly above a well balanced presentation that places energy and authority in bass as the star. Bass detail is present just not the most of some other choices. Vocals are forward too but, again thereā€™s other sets at the same or cheaper prices doing better or the same. You may want to look into the EJ07M Kinda Lava or Yanyin Canon.

Thanks, I have a KL actually, do you have a KL as well? If so how was the bass between UP and KL? Nice, so the vocals on UP is forward. I feel like I want to explore a higher level of bass energy than my KL :volcano:
