Looking for help getting iems for my taste!
In my country iems are really not a thing so I have to pick them up without trying. Got sennheiser ie200 last week and I think they are not even better than air pods pro 2. Bands I listen to most:
Lorna Shore
Orbit Culture
Polaris
Gojira
In Flames
Slipknot
Lamb of god
Bad Omens
Heaven Shall Burn
Bury Tomorrow
As I lay dying
Trivium
How I feel ie200 to be lacking: I have allready tape modded these and I find bass to be lacking the ‘‘oomph’’. Also stage and layering isn’t that great since most of the music that I am listening to I have hard times picking up different instruments and kickdrum isnt clear enough. On my shortlist for iems that are easily available for me are: edit IE600 and Meteor I coul get secondhand 400€ for meteor and 350€ for IE600. Orchestra lite and Hype 4 new around 300€.
1 - Sennheiser IE600
2 - Symphonium Meteor
3 - Thieaudio hype 4
4 - Kiwi Ears Orchestra lite
5 - Isn Audio Neo 5
6 - Aful Explorer

We have very similar taste in music! Trivium is my all time favorite. Im in the market for a kilobuck thats best for metal. I was going to get the mest MKII but then heard some stuff about the alien brain and crimson so im torn haha!

Our #1 resident metal guy, @SoundEater , got Alien Brain a month ago and literally ghosted the whole hobby :v: If that gives you any sign  His previous fav was Glacier. Haven’t heard AB, but seems solid. My other rec would be Letshuoer C12, but I don’t listen to a ton of metal and it depends a bit on your treble preferences. I found Crimson too spicy and a bit shouty (but I seem to be an outlier there).

do you know if hes heard the mest mk2 before? The problem with the alien to me is its pretty unpopular

I didn’t choose him for metal. Actually, don’t touch him if you listen to metal.
I just relax and enjoy the music, that’s why I don’t write.

Up to $1000 for metal - IE600 (good if you like the sound signature, one of the best for ultra fast metal, you gain the coherence of 1DD, many people criticize it, but these are guys who don’t understand metal), Alien Brain (incredible tonality and timbre for a hybrid with fast and textured bass and accurate imaging, world-class cohesion, good balance throughout the FR, will become more and more popular because it’s hard not to like it, 1000% versatile, you can see my review in Head-Fi, DTE900 (a little more intense, but very fast and technical, good tonality for electric and acoustic guitars).
There are others that are good for metal, but they are very expensive and I don’t think it’s worth it. If you are interested in more expensive options - write.
One golden rule - whatever they tell you, there are only a handful of IEMs that are suitable for metal. Cheers and maybe I’ll post here, God knows. :space_invader:

I went with ie600 because it was readily available and I tried ie200 before. Holy hell these little guys are just pure bliss. First time I listened to Lorna Shore - And I return to nothingnes I teared up - it was so perfect. Now looking good dac-amp for these beasts. Got tried Cayin Ru7 and ibasso dc07pro and prefer ru7 over dc07pro. Only nitpick is that ru7 doesnt work with older apple devices like my 13 mini that I tried with ibasso supplied usb c - lightning connector, but cayin seems to make their own that should work?

The right choice is IE600. Whoever understands chooses a capable and technical IEM for metal - 1DD.
IE600 has nothing to do with IE200/300/900. IE900 is good, but not for metal, it has bad mids. For metal you need good low mids in an IEM, and most of them suppress them.
The only thing common between IE600 and IE200 is the first two letters.
