The Asgard 3 is at 260 euros + shipping, IF I can get it, and thats a big if, since it isnāt available at their EU retailers now. The rhead is a bit cheaper, itās listed at 250EUR online, although I could probably get a deal on it since the shop thatās selling is in my city, therefore no shipping either!
I prefer the jack placement on the rhead. Also, the fact, that Iād have to pay around 300$ (converted) for a 200$ amp is off putting for me, of course that doesnāt matter if itās still worth the price, and obviously I need the one that can drive the Argons.
How do you know nearing shipping date? 12 week timeline? I shipped a set of mkiiiās to them (from Spain) to mod near 11 weeks ago and sent follow up emails and havent heard a peep. Also where are you located? Just snagged an Asgard 3 off ebay for 240. Have seen a few round that price recentlyā¦
Iāll look around on there then, maybe Iāll find one. Iām in Hungary, and yes, what I meant by shipping date is the 12 weeks timeline, I havenāt gotten an update or anything like that. Iām on week 9 so I still have plenty of time, but I want to buy the gear well in advance to be ready for the big day!
Single ended but in hindsight I shouldāve gone with balanced, itās always nice to have the option even if you donāt necessarily plan on using it!
I got the balanced mod as well, and just grabbed a balanced compatible Hart Audio cable from @brux. Works great with both balanced and unbalanced interconnects, so you could take advantage of both amps. Just remember unbalanced out to balanced in = ok, but balanced out to unbalanced in = bad.
I messaged to add the balanced mod but I have low hopes of getting a response since theyāre so busy. Thereās lots of time though as my order wouldnāt hit 12 weeks til July.
Iām confused, is this referring to a balanced dac pushing out to an unbalanced amp, or a balanced amp to an unbalanced headphone (which I thought was totally fine)?
Wait, why? I thought it was totally fine? Like, if I take a headphone that has a standard 3.5, and convert it to 2.5 and run through a balanced connector, why is that bad?
The other way around is fine, but balanced uses two separate grounds, which are combined when converting to unbalanced. This can cause grounding issues and potentially damage your equipment.
