just installed Siemens O-GetterE88c Gold pins thanks @donjklassen! they immediately fix certain aspects of the stock sound for me that I was having. treble was initially too sharp the tubes smooths them out enough to turn it up. brings subbass more forward giving me more rumble especially on my planar’s fixed some upper mid shout I was having with the stock tubes. soundstage and imaging now feels more concise.

I did a bit of an experiment tonight, cabled in a Soekris dac1321 SE out into the SE in on the LP which has a set of Siemens 7308s in it currently, and working it with my LCD-2PF connected to the balance hp out. It is sounding pretty good. It’s not Bifrost 2 level good but, I think its interesting and might be fun to do some tube rolling to experiment more, using this DAC.

Anyway, just wanted to put out this matchup and what I an hearing incase anyone else was thinking about it.

On a side note - using the SE input on the LP - I have a little more range on the volume pot. I am actually getting above 10:00 and not having hit so loud my ears blead.

I’ve noticed a pattern with the LP it’s happened to me twice now that I’ve settled on a pair to tubes and haven’t rolled anything in a while.

After about 5 or 6 weeks I’ll start to notice a very faint hiss on one channel. Very low, not dependent on volume setting on the DAC preamp either, as I can raise or lower the input but the level of hiss remains unchanged.

Anyway, the solution is to take the tubes out and put them back in and the hiss will go away. Dead silent for a number of weeks again… until I start to detect the hiss. Sometimes on the right channel, sometimes on the left channel but it always goes away after I pull the tubes out and reseat them.

I’ve swapped the tubes left to right just to see if the hiss follows the tube but since it’s all fine after I take them out, I can’t tell.

This time I’ve resolved to remember the offending tube just in case when I pops up again in a few weeks.

It may just be dirty/loose sockets or dirty pins.

Maybe use a tiny bit of dielectric grease? Are you in a humid place?

anyone hear anything on liquid platinums dac? I assume its backlogged further due to the AKM dac chip issue?

Liquid Platinum is 80% off for $165 on monoliths site.

Edit: It is now out of stock.

Curious if this was a mess up on their part… thats awfully cheap

Wow, what a smokin’ deal! I am Never going to be able to sell mine.

Mine should be still covered by the return window and price guarantee, so I’ve reached out but their customer service isn’t open until tomorrow.

I’ll likely just return mine, as it did have a few power cycle issues.

I’m reasonably confident this is a mistake though. $400 off the $600 price seems pretty crazy.

It is now out of stock.

It’s not available anymore

Hard to say. For most of 2020 it hung out in the $400-515 range. Then for most of 2021 it seemed to be at its full $799. Sell at the right time and you might be ok.

I will have to time it right. I like the amp, but the iFi Pro iCAN can do everything it does, plus more.

eh? they do present sound a bit differently to my ear though and ican is quite a bit more expensive

lol I snagged it then it went out of stock

You already have one! JK enjoy it for me

True enough. I wouldn’t look to replace one with the other, but since I have the iFi sitting around, the LP is not getting much use.

i am willing to bet money one person bought almost all of them.

Most likely, wasn’t me though lol

Looks like they cancelled all the 165 orders, shame, but expected.
