Out of curiosity why did you go with that brand of caps?

I had a certain price point I was willing to hit and also their physical size (they have to fit in the chassis). No other reason.

Oh and they have a good reputation for quality in regards to audio.

Electrolyte based caps take time (hours to days) to fully form. You learned that the hard way :stuck_out_tongue:

I was expecting it to not sound great but didnā€™t expect it to sound like ass lol. It was pretty fatiguing.

My last update on cap mod: everything has settled down and is stable now. Iā€™m not sensitive to small changes in tonality but I donā€™t believe itā€™s changed much from stock. Resolution on the other hand is on a whole new level. Everything that relies on resolution (imaging, spaciousness, microdetail, blackground, transients, etc.) is justā€¦well, it really is a case of hearing my music for the first time. Itā€™s a completely different and glorious amp. For reference, Iā€™m using Diana V2 and Elegia and the changes are blatantly obvious on both cans. Have not tried the HD600 yet but I expect the same results.

I recently picked one of these up for $400, and it is a lovely little unit. I doubt Iā€™ve fully burned in the included tubes yet, and I have zero desire to do any modding or tube swapping any time soon!

Iā€™m extremely happy with the LP. It makes planars sing in a way Iā€™m really enjoying. Maybe this will change as the tubes burn in, but Iā€™m digging the balance between tube and solid state a lot here. I like that the focus is on clarity and detail of the solid state with the tube having a pleasant but minimal warm effect overall.

I was a little concerned at first because I havenā€™t had a tube amp before, plus there were some early reports about poor volume pots. Thankfully, the pot on my unit is totally fine. The pot isnā€™t RNHP-level, but it does the job well enough.

Similar to my take on it, everything sonic technicality is improved but the signature remained unchanged, with a little more extension and speed. Much bigger effect than changing tubes.

Where can you buy in Europe?
I have see on Ebay open box but for 450$ and 150$ with fees and shipping.
Audiophonics sell for 1200 ā‚¬ :face_vomiting:

Can you buy directly from Monoprice?

Only from Monoprice Usa not in Europe.

For the first time a long time I am using my LP via SE today and it sounds pretty damn good. I am plugged in with the DT880ā€™s (600 Ohm). Of course this amp has tons of power to make these dance.
I am rotating between XLR in and SE via a Schiit Loki. I think I am enjoying the bass boost from the Loki more.

I am going to spend a few hours with Theory of a Deadman and then try different stuff.

Still getting a kick out of seeing the volume knob past 12:00. :+1:

Whatā€™s a good v-shaped tube for this guy (something that doesnā€™t cost a kidney)?

Donā€™t forget MLP uses 2 tubes. So thatā€™s 2 kidneys :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

so some few day impressions. havenā€™t written one of these in a while. Iā€™ve not had the chance to try higher end amps than what Iā€™m used to in the long time. immediate response with my 4xxā€™s is timbre is now fixed the LP successfully gets rid of the metallic sheen it has. this amp has a odd width to it itā€™s wider than my spark slightly but male vocals feel much more intimate than other sounds like ffront and centre and the rest of the instruments are around it. kinda like a stage set up at a show where a solo artist is up front. and the backing band is around him. female vocals donā€™t seem to have as drastic of an effect. but it adds a nice balance of piano and vocals with the very clearly separated vocals and piano in " Samson" By Regina spektor. drums sound faster and more clearly defined with this amp. much more detailed than spark. single ended is pretty good definitely worse than the balanced but definitely getā€™s the essence of the amp. will make a updated impressions in a frew weeks after the honye moon period is done and I get some proper gaming to see how itreacts to games as that unique presentation may not be good for it which isnā€™t really gonna be a knock on it itā€™s just something that makes the amp unique and I like it. Im honestly kinda surprised by how much more my beloved 250 ohm 990 can scale even though the single ended out of this thing.

I basically agree, I have a jvc iem that like the 4xx does not have the most natural tonality. Probably due to the high frequencies being great but the low mids being slightly hollow. LP boosts the lower mids giving that body back and really just helping in terms of tonality. Also super mid forward

Noiceeeeeeeeeee

Are these tubes I ordered for my Liquid platinum decent? Iā€™m hoping it improves the sound stage and layering to give the listening experience a more 3D effect. because I heard thatā€™s a problem with the stock tubes.

I have not tried those yet but @WaveTheory has, and he likes them.
That is a really good price - the one I ordered are $99 eachā€¦

I am currently running a set of the Gold Lions, but this weekend I am going to swap them out for a set of Siemens 7308ā€™s that I picked up from upscale audio and give them a try.

are you sure they are the same exact ones? that is kinda weird that I got them for that much cheaper for two of them.

Ooo. Careful. Those arenā€™t the ones I ordered. I got the PQ Gold Pins. Theyā€™re a ECC88 and not a 6DJ8. These tubes will work. But I donā€™t know how they will sound.
