🔶 Monolith M1570

400 is a pretty good deal. The tuning is more dark and it’s not too expensive. Go for it

Today I am doing some comparisons with these and my newest 'phones, the HiFiman HE6se V2’s. While I was commenting on another forum a guy asked me a question, so I thought I would share it here. Keep in mind that it is JUST one guys opinion.

The M1570’s are certainly “softer”. My testing list is 17 songs and about 1 and 1/4 hrs. long. I am going back and fourth. When the HE6se V2’s are on my head, I am absolutely certain that they are the superior headphone by no small measure.
Then I put the M1570’s on and everything feels and sounds good. Not as much punch, but very smooth. A very pleasant experience. I think I might be keeping both. Two different ways to do planar’s and both are falling into my “really like” zone. If I HAD to get rid of one, it would be the M1570’s.

But you have to compare three specs:

  1. Sale prices of $399 VS $599

  2. M1570’s are kind of a loose, sloppy fit. Move your head sharply and they will fall off. The HE6se V2’s are KILLING the top of my head and will require Dekoni Nuggets, which I already have. Hurts like the Cascades.

  3. The biggie: amp pairing. You can of course play them on anything. But to get their best you are looking at close to the $1,000.00 mark, IMO.
The iFi Pro iCAN is exquisite, but that was like $1,799.00 new (and is now discontinued).
The LP and the Schiit Loki are almost there, but that was $599.00, plus shipping and $149.00, plus shipping. About $850.00ish (about $1,300.00Cdn.).

Just some thoughts of mine. I am going to keep comparing these for the next few days.

For specifics:
On iFi Pro iCAN, the settings are:

  1. M1570’s - low gain at 10:00-11:00.
  2. HE6se V2’s - medium gain at 1:00-2:00

If you extend the yokes all way and crease the headband (terrifying I know but it takes it) the center hot spot disappears. Dekoni nuggets raises the height and takes away a lot of clamp force.

I already cranked the shit out of the Cascades trying this. I think I will try the Nuggets without sticking them on. I can lower each cup one notch if I have to. I find the clamp on these good and firm. I WISH the Monoprice had this clamp. Firm, but very comfortable.

While the Nuggets look thick, they squish right down. I wish I had used them on my Cascades before I tried to Hulk it out.

There’s always option c. Newer style headband.

I will try the Nuggets first and if that makes them comfortable, I am done. Still curious about the grills though.

If dude won’t ship to canuckistan I can send you a pair.

Thanks. I’ll let you know! :+1:

Hello, Im all new here as a user, vut Ive lurked around for months.

So Ive bought this very headphone and like most I think modding it is in order. Particularly the headband.

So if for whatever reason you struggle to come by an appropriate headband or simply think an audeeze headband is to costly for what it is.

Well I looked around for headbands with little luck finding a fit that wasnt Imo very costly.

So headphones got headbands. But what else does? Exactly, hearing protection/ ear muffs ofc.

And wouldnt you know the band off a 10> dollar muff would fit?

Threaded some counter sunk ph bolt in from the inside of the cups and secured the band on with nylock nuts on the outside. Not super pretty but kinda utilitarian looking.

There is now actual clamp and the comfort is actually very good. And I think it looks fairly good outside the nylock nuts maybe.
You can get muffs anywhere and theyre very inexpensive.

What do you think?
