šŸ”¶ Monoprice Monolith M570

Iā€™m too spoiled with Amazon lol. It is great. Has been helping me on my never-ending search for IEM tips that fit me.

Iā€™m just trying to open up possibilities cause if I listened to the reviews and forums I probably wouldnā€™t have bought the thing. but itā€™s like almost my favorite.

I gotcha. Makes sense.

So after listening, the amount of bass on the argons was more, but it kinda also caused a sense of muddiness. I think the vocal timbre was better on the nighthawks and the separation helped to more clearly define the vocals from the background. I think the nighthawks had a more defined sense of space and punch with the weight of the air with melee attacks, it was more clearly separated and the midrange punch alongside the bass was pretty intense where the argons kinda lacked midrange oomph. Regarding the cannon, I think the argons had more volume in the subbass, but it kinda muffled the rest of the action. I actually think the nighthawks had better punch though, along with separation. Regarding ambient noises the hawks were a fair bit better at recreating the surrounding space imo. I think the argons have the most low end volume if you want that, but personally I def preferred the hawks here

Well @Hensel there ya go!

Wow. A very close call indeed. Thank you so much for testing! Currently i own 5 headphones and i dont want to buy a 6th headphone that might be a sidegrade:

  1. AD900x: anemic bass, bad for single player
  2. K702: sharp and bright, poor bass
  3. M570: not immersive, bright
  4. He4xx: good all rounder, better bass but no meat and punch, bit muddy
  5. Steelseries Arctis 7: with bass boost set to low, offers a very punchy bass, meaty, slow decay (echoey), but sucks in all other sound areas

So basically i am looking for bass and body of (5) with relatively good soundstage, separation, resolution, and clarity.

The Argon Mk3 seem to offer this at the expense of clarity?
The nighthawk seem to offer this at the expense of rumble?

I donā€™t want to buy another mid-fi can that is a side-grade. Unless the nighthawk is definitely an upgrade. Thatā€™s why i also have those on my list:
-Fostex Th-900
-Sony z7
-Sony Z1R
-Sony MDR1A

Nighthawks are not a sidegrade, they are $700 cans being sold for $250 at the moment. They are seriously what your are looking for, and tick all the boxes for immersion and great bass.

I really do think the Hawks would be something you find enjoyable. They have plenty of rumble, more than the argonā€™s at times, but a bit less volume, but you could just eq it up if needed tbh, but they would be a fair bit bassier than anything you currently own

And again with the higher tier headphones I would wait to see what you think if like the Nighthawks, because the Hawks use the same driver type as the 900mk2 so that would be a logical upgrade perhaps

@Hensel I will say my Nighthawk Carbon are my favorite headphones I have ever tried. I love my pair so much. They are so good for the price.

Join us child. Nothing to be afraid of :sunglasses:.

I got the M570.

I hear echo. When i play battlefield 1 it feels like Iā€™m in a big hall or cathedral. A metallic echo veils the sound.

A more accurate description: it is like listening to the world through two cylinder tubes (like the paper towel cylindrical carton), one on each ear.

Is this how these should sound? I am really considering returning mine.

Your pair sounds like it has the 800hz ringing issue. It seems that most pairs have this issue. I donā€™t remember mine having that though.

QC on these headphones are an issue. you may have to return it and get another pair. everyone is really recommending the nighthawks, maybe you should try those next?

Anyone thought about the Elex for gaming. any good?

Itā€™s pretty good but itā€™s more of a music headphone, for competitive gaming something else in the price range might be more preferable

Those are pretty different than the m570, so it would depend on what people want

I got the m570 for competitive gaming, not for immersion. They have very good imaging and I want to love them. They also have good bass. But they sound veiled, muffled, tinny, echoy, dunno how to describe it. I am doing frequency tests. Canā€™t seem to find a test for 800Hz.

I felt that way too. I would look elsewhere honestly.hifiman has better soudstage and imaging anyway I would return those and try a hifiman instead if you want planar or spend a bit more on a used DT 1990

Just listen to a sweep. Of frequencies and your sure to notice something and if you notice a heavy channel imbalance that moves very quickly then you have a problem

This is a 800Hz tone. I listened to it with my m570 and i didnā€™t notice anything off. Just a stable tone playing.

I guess i just donā€™t like the sound signature of this headphone. It gets worse when i enable Dolby Atmos for Headphone. And is more enjoyable when using Windows Sonic instead. I never faced this issue with any of my 4 other open-backs.

Just trying to figure out if it is me who donā€™t like it, or if there is something technically wrong with it.

the stable tone wont expose anything you need a sweeping tone and you will hear what I mean but you have already heard in music and games the resonance which is that echo like sound you are hearing
