They would be more then fine with that dac and amp setup, imo they are better then the m1060 except in width, you can get aftermarket cables, and yes I think they would be a step up from the 565
thanks, an if you dont mind if i pick your brain ,have you heard of the Stellar Labs HO-5960 - Headphones do you know how much juice can they take an do you know if the foam padding in its semi-open design can be upgraded to somthing better to give them more sound isolation
I have not heard of them, but they look like an akg k240, and itās still a fairly open headphone, and changing the foam inside might make it a bit less open, but it could affect the sound. Going off of the power for the k240, it can pretty much take what you throw at it so I donāt see a big issue
ok i give up. Zeos just came out with his review of the M570 and he says they sound great with a little more treble. I heard them and they sounded muffled and veiled. Maybe i got a defective pair of headphones?
But then he goes on to say the Blons B20ās are wider soundstage and warmer then the Sendy Aivaās. I just got my Sendy Aivaās and i cant tell a difference except the Aivaās sound a tiny bit better. I dont hear more soundstage and warmer. I havenāt broken them in yet so maybe thats it?
Maybe its my setup. Grace SDAC Balanced with a Schiit Magni amp. Maybe i need a 789 amp with a better DAC? Maybe i need balanced? idk. Someone please help me.
when you are looking into a headphoneā¦read / watch as many reviews as you can so you can get hear a multitude of thoughts on them and then figure out if they sound like a winner to you.
I have Aiva. I used to pair it with my Grace SDAC(not the balanced one) and O2, it actually sounds fine until I get a new high res dac(SMSL m500). You can tell the difference immediately. While I only have aune x7s for balance output(might have distortion to pair with low impedance cans like aiva), aiva sounds more context, more detail, more juicy in the sound. I would say a better dac/amp can improve your experience on aiva, but it also depends on what amp/dac you are comparing.
i noticed in Zeos video that the Blons he was using had different pads than the ones i got. my pads look more like the Aiva pads. Mines are a return so maybe the guy who had them changed the pads, idk. But this could be the reason im having so much trouble telling them apart
ive had my eye on the SMSL M500 DAC. It does MQA and its balanced for my thx 789 thats coming (just got pushed back to december grrr) and it also does DSD 512. How does it sound? is it a colored DAC? Does it have any DSP or EQ settings on it?
Well, m500 uses single ES9038pro chip. It shares similar design as Sabaj D5.
It sounds really clean.
There is 7 types of digital filter settings, so you can change the sound color from this. I think if you listen to MQA files, it will automatically apply different filter accordingly to the music you are listening to. But it doesnāt support other EQ setting like RME ADI-2 dac does.
The machine gets warm(but not hot) even if you use line out. Maybe you can wait for the sale, I bought mine from a chinese website, they sold it for 2300rmb(included the shipping fee to Melbourne. Itās around 330USD).
Well, itās debatable.
There are many decent dacs use a single dac. For example, sabaj d5 only uses a single es9038pro chip. But a es9038 pro chip can support 8 channels, compared to a es9038q2m(the one smsl su-8 used, but they put dual chips in su-8) supports 2 channels. I think the RME ADI-2 dac uses a single chip(AKM AK4490) too. How the manufacturer puts them together and what circuits they use are more important. But if you are concerned about it, just get a dual chips model.
Trying to decide if I should get the M570 or the HD650 to be my first legit headphone. (I have really outgrown my Sennheiser momentum 2.0 for in home listening.) Iāve been researching and diving deep for a few weeks now, and already own a Fiio M6 DAP. I have nothing against getting a small amp to match if if I need to. It seems to me that the HD650 is a long time staple in the community and with DMS having described the Focal Elex as a better 650 it causes me to think I would like it since the way Zeos describes the Elex is exactly what Iām looking for, HOWEVER then thereās the Sendy Aiva ark which seems to be the headphone equilivant to whatās going on with IEMs - a sound that you would have to pay a lot more for in the past is now available for cheapā¦
But is the aiva, blon, m570 better than the HD650 for what I want? Are the Planars just hype while the Sennheiser is tried and true?
Again this would be my first real headphone. Anyone with experience with both could help a ton.
