Hey folks, I’m on the cross roads of buying headphones for music production and to drive my Walkman NWA-45. I already picked up a pair of Porta Pros and KSC75’s but they didn’t exactly suite my head and I pawned them off to some of my brothers. Pointers in the right direction would be appreciated!
For music production I would not buy either . Both aren’t great due to tuning very bassy headphones. While not the best for production its better than most at this price range I would get the akgk240 instead. It’s not the most revealing for mixing it’s still a very proven headphone for monitoring
I wish I could get those but I’m currently on a tight budget, and spending 50-60 would really hurt my checking account.
In that case I would just try to save money instead until I can get something better than the options you have. How are you with iems? Cause that could be the better route at your budget?
Probably? I hear for production it’s a bit risky as you might not get a exact sound from smaller drivers.
Honestly I would try to save up a bit more money to get something decent. The AKG K240 are actually decent for a tight budget, I know several people who used them as their first music production headphones, and they make great music.
Can you buy used? The k240 or a sony mdr7506 are options
Did you have a certain price range in mind? Also, do you currently own an amp and dac?
Even used I don’t think they will be under 50 bucks in good condition
It’s better than having a headphone with too much bass as it can result in very anemic sounding music
I have a Sony Walkman NWA-45 which itself can be a DAC
Anything that isn’t above 35$ to be frank. As a kid still in highschool being paid not much, I kinda don’t wanna drop anything over as we all know how expensive college is
Have you considered selling the walkman? Just wondering what do you use with it currently? Typically at this range personally for myself it would make more sense to sell the walkman and direct that budget towards a nice pair of headphones, and just go without an amp and dac as imo a higher quality pair of headphones will sound better than a lower quality pair with a dac/amp
Kinda was the first ever HiFi product I bought and it’s filled with a bunch of 24 bit FLAC files I can’t really find without booting up a VPN now adays. Unless I’m getting like a iPod 5.5 inch then that’s a negative.
@AJensen I would save up for these if you can.

$55 brand new.
fakes DO NOT BUY
+36.99 shipping
Yikes, they look good but holy shit is that a good chunk of money
Ok, you may need to shop around, but the AKG K240 Studio typically sells for $65 new. Occasionally you can find a used pair around the $40 to $50 range.
If it were me, I would play the long game and save up to buy something that you won’t have any regrets with.
When I first got into the hobby I made a few mistake purchases because I got too focused on price, was inexperienced, and didnt know exactly what sound signature I was after.
Just food for thought …
Those are not legit, they will be in the 100 ish range, the mdr 7506 and mdr v6 are well known faked headphones. Looking at the images they show, that’s not even the right body of the headphone, and the packaging doesn’t look like the real thing either. They show the real headphones inside the packaging but the ones they show next to it aren’t legit, so I would be very careful, it is easy to end up with a fake of those
Yeah, like I said, there’s several people I know who make very well-recorded music with those for the kind of budget they are on.
