šŸ”¶ Moondrop Blessing 2

Yeah, but I didnt know that when I started this damn hobby lol.

I went from KZ ZS6 ā†’ ZS7 ā†’ ZS10 pro ā†’ Tin T3 ā†’ Audiosense T800 ā†’ Moondrop KXXS

Quite the big jump there lol.

Besides the wrong timbre, is blessing 2 good at other things?

Its technical, thats all I give it.

Thanks. If I were to get it, do you think the wood option is worth it?

Its cosmetic, so up to you.

(I would get the weeb version (faceplate) if I could, but they werent out when I bought it.)

A very satisfied owner checking in. Man, the fact that these are 320 dollars is insane. I canā€™t wait to see what the rest of the IEM world has to offer.

Late to the party, but after a lot of consideration and long shipping times, a wild blessing 2 appeared in my postbox.

Itā€™s too early to give a review, but I wanted to share my first impressions. For context: I did hear >1k$ headphones before, but was to cheap in the past to invest into IEMs, which recently changes. Went from a long time CCA C12 ā†’ Moondrop Aria ā†’ Blessing 2:

  • i did notice that the blessing 2 is more detailed than the aria and has a wider soundstageā€¦ however i think the imaging is worse than on the aria imho and the details arenā€™t much better
  • tuning wise I actually like the aria more than the blessing 2. The blessing 2 maybe just need some brain-burn in and I will give them some time, but I think they sound less bright than the aria. I like bright and clear. I looked up the graphs after the fact and I think it may be, because the blessings treble doesnā€™t rise until 15k if you believe the graphs (my hearing stops around 16-17k)
    image
  • also as per graph they have less bass than the aria, which I didnā€™t notice as much, but I think it is disadvantage to some extent for my taste
  • i was happy that I can fit them in my ear, but they are definitely less comfortable than the aria. While the aria was too loose, the blessing 2 definitely put some pressure on the ear canal. I canā€™t tell yet if that is a problem after a longer listening session
  • i didnā€™t spend too much time with the eq, but when tuning the blessing to the aria frequency curve, it sounds a little better. If I eq it to match the Moondrop Variations, I think it sounds even better (better than aria iem). I think out of the 3 the blessing probably may be my least favorite (incl. Dusk)
  • all that being said, I donā€™t think the blessing 2 isnā€™t a bad iemā€¦ it just feels like a step in the wrong direction coming from the aria

First impression roundup: While the blessing is the technically better headphone, I prefer the aria slightly, thanks to a better fit (with the right tips - otherwise it is too loose) and a tuning which suits my taste better.

If I learned anything, than it is that I donā€™t agree with crinacle target

Yup, my impressions of B2 were the same. I bought B2 cause of Aria and preferred the tuning of Aria more than B2. Although B2 has better quality bass, Aria had greater impact . B2 was a lot refined and resolved better, soundstage wise both had similar width but B2 sounded a bit flatter, Aria had a hint of depth which B2 seemed to lack.

Overall the B2 was not a direct upgrade to the Aria but more a side upgrade. Aria has way better fit, at least for me.

B2 is a direct upgrade of Aria! Youā€™re just used to Aria  And B2 with a change of cable and the right eartips hits above its price - up to about $ 500. This can hardly be said about Aria !!!

Just to be clear, Iā€™m not saying that the B2 in not better than the Aria. Itā€™s just that I much prefer the Ariaā€™s tuning over B2. Main issues for me with the B2 are BA Timbre and lack of enough Bass impact.

I tried a couple of tips Spinfits, Final Type E, Foamā€¦ and 2 cables. KBear 4 Core Balanced Cable and the Stock Astell&Kern Diana Cable.

Ultimately sold the B2 and now Iā€™m gonna see if Timeless would be a good fit for my library and tastes.

I will say this though, it definitely is one of the best options for itā€™s price, just not the tuning for me.

Totally disagree.

  • Is the B2 technically better than the Aria? Sure.
  • But does it have the same/similar tuning? Definitely no!
  • Is the tuning on the B2 better? That is highly subjectiveā€¦

If something is tuning wise so different from something else, I wouldnā€™t call it a ā€œdirect upgradeā€. @John7592jdys gave you his reasons, which donā€™t even include my biggest issue with the IEM - lack of treble >10khz.

Also if you have to change cable and tips, it makes it even less direct of an upgrade. Imho the B2 is clearly better, when equalizedā€¦ but if something is equalized it is anything but an direct upgrade.

They arenā€™t tuned the same. wtf lol

Why does everyone say that B2 doesnā€™t have enough bass. Iā€™ve listened to a lot of headphones and B2 has good amount of bass and good quality bass! The bass speed is not bad either, even for me it is medium fast and not slow? what do you mean by fast bass? See if you use the right tips and a good cable! And yes- B2 is an upgrade of Aria and more. You just like the Aria tuning. The timbre of BA is a bit disturbing, but the speed of BA is surprising for this type of driver, it beats many dynamic drivers above the price in terms of speed and transitions !!!

BAs are way faster than DDsā€¦ Thatā€™s they specialityā€¦

Thatā€™s why my next purchase will be 07m and the end that I spent a lot of money this year

First you say itā€™s an ā€œdirect upgradeā€ and now you make the appearance of standing your ground, but dropping the ā€œdirectā€ from ā€œB2 is an upgrade of Aria and moreā€. Which is it? A ā€œdirect upgradeā€ or merely a ā€œupgradeā€?

Also what is the B2 more than an upgrade? I am not sure you understand the meaning of the word. Neither ā€œdirectā€ nor ā€œupgradeā€.

Yes I like the Aria tuning, which is exactly my pointā€¦ the fact that I (among others) like it but donā€™t like the B2 is proof, that it isnā€™t a ā€œdirect upgradeā€. I donā€™t know why you repeat what I said and repeat it as a justification (for what exactly?) / accusation.

Just to be clear (just in case): No one here ever said that the B2 is objectively worse than the Aria. I think everyone agrees, that the B2 is technically superior. But if a technically superior iem sound like shit tuning wise (which is a subjective thing), it isnā€™t worth a whole lot.

In regards to the bass: I donā€™t mind too much, if there isnā€™t enough bass, but the B2 definitely doesnā€™t have a lot of bassā€¦ again: what is the right amount of bass?.. it is subjective. But the B2 has objectively less bass than other IEMs like the Dusk, Variations or even the Aria. If you think you can change that with tips and cableā€¦ try those tips and cables on these IEMs as well, before you make a comparision between apples and oranges

I understand the word ā€œupgradeā€, probably better than you! B2 has bass, but there are IEMs with more bass !! And yes- B2 is technically better than Aria !!!

Then please answer my question.

I didnā€™t say more than an upgrade, probably a translation error! I say they are better than other IEMs for this price and for a higher price, thatā€™s it!
