True and just turn down/off the others when you want stereo. But boomers are never one to make sense. Just look at our political climate lol.
No! you literally just put the AVR in Stereo mode.
Oh yeah there is that lol. Give me a break I haven’t Used a receiver in like 15 years when I was a kid lol.
I’d say you got to get with the times, but AVR’s have always had a stereo mode.
Haha well I do need to still. I’ve only ever used TVs with sound bars and my current Sonos playbar, sub, and play 3s combo. My dad had a receiver when I was a youngun but it was off limits to us kids lol.
Oh, you got to get a real surround sound set up, you’ll never go back to a soundbar.
Yeah I feel ya. I’ve been in homes with them I just haven’t been able to prioritize one in yet.
Get with the times, use a preamp processor and multiple power amps instead of an integrated lol
I wish I had the budget for that
Looking used might yield better deals than you think. The preamp processor might be more pricy if you want a really modern one but you can find solid power amps for cheaper than you think
I have the problem is I want an ATMOS Processor with HDMI 2.0 they still bring big money.
I know this one. The struggle is real. lol
Only that in my case it was caused by a Trinnov 36 channel Auro/Atmos/DTS system with Large sized Genelecs… And it only took like 7 years to get a taste of it and only with 11 speakers and big G’s…
Good to have dreams.
No need to be a dick
Yeah, the first time I thought headphones could possibly compete was when I got the 58x. And 4xx tbh(altho I hate on em alot lol) due to space now I technically have my speakers set up only to watch TV. For actual music listening I use headphones (which actually beat my micca rb42)
I know this is an “out of left field” recommendation. But in terms of raw specs, the Hypex NCore DIY kit actually measures spectacularly well. At 1150 EUR it outperforms (spec wise) monoblocks 5-10 times it’s price.
No soldering required, just screw and plug it all together…

You’re the first I’ve seen say that. My dad (on the older end of the Boomers) always finds a way to blame millennials… and the French somehow.
I have more than one set of speakers in the >$1K a pair range, currently I’m using some older infinities with ribbon tweeters that were probably more than that, and some Polk Surrounds.
I mean I could listen to music in my HT room, but I have decent stereo gear, and listening off a surround receiver isn’t comparable, so I don’t.
Surround systems are optimized for a different experience than Stereo, room placement isn’t critical in the same way for 5+.1, active compensation actually does something useful.
By comparison my main Stereo speakers were $2800 (20 years ago), my monoblocks would have cost $8.5K new and (I probably paid $3.5K for them), and the Preamp was probably $1500.
Well most of the boomers I know what Fox News, and we know where that gets you lol. Sorry I won’t go political on here.
and as a zoomer I just pull out philly D on youtube and listen to that for about 15-20 minutes to get filled in cause I have no time for that bullshit otherwise
Well you kind of just did.
No worries though.
