I just listened to that album for the first time like 2 weeks ago, lol.

Iā€™ve heard my brother play the song Blackwater Park on his guitar before.

Iā€™m a little bit confused on what exactly a fun and analytical headphone entails for how they sound.

So analytical can be a fun headphone for some people, I would just say fun means an engaging headphone. An analytical headphone will be a bit less for, well, fun, and more for analyzing music, so something perhaps a bit more fatiguing, to listen to over time, something typically detail forward, and something typically brighter, it depends though

What can each of those two terms 100% not mean? Iā€™m going to guess for an example that a fun headphone will not have a crazy amount of detail.

A fun headphone will most likely NOT be boring to some, it wonā€™t have a flat signature with boring presentation and mediocre technicalities, something will stand out about it that is very desirable for enjoyment. A fun headphone can have plenty of detail, it just depends

An analytical headphone will NOT be lacking detail, have a veil or clouded signature, or lack technicalities imo

fo course you can have a good mix of both that are both detailed and overall engaging. but what you find personally engaging is all down to preference. but people can find analytical cans are fun because of the detail but many can find them boring because thats all they do

Yes it really depends on preference. But there are just boring or unexciting cans that most people find uninteresting

Audio play back is a bit like art in many ways and defiantly not a science lolā€¦you have realism, abstract, pre-raphaelite (vinyl lol) impressionism, light and space, minimalism etcā€¦thereā€™s as many different ways to paint a picture as there is to recreate a sound track and no shame having two different styles of art hanging on your wall as there is having different sound sigā€™s you enjoy listening to :+1:

I might get to return my Blon B20s because of a channel imbalance, and if possible, I will have my money refunded and I will look into another headphone. I am strongly thinking about getting the Focal Elex. (Brand new, not taking any sort of chance with used.) My comments as to what I am looking for based off of what Iā€™m hearing from the headphones I have now, goes as follows. I find this set of headphones to be just a tad brighter than what I would want. Iā€™m not really sure I would call these fatiguing to me, but I would want the highs to be just a tad less as well. I find the bass greatly lacking in impact for me. More body, slam, or rumble would be nice, but I still feel that this area could be overdone in a pair of headphones to where it could be fatiguing for me, specifically for the rumble if Iā€™m purely guessing at this point. With the mids, I really donā€™t have any comment. I think I just donā€™t know how to analyze this part of the headphone and I donā€™t know what counts as mids besides vocals for reasons as to why I have no comment. Vocals certainly donā€™t wow me or come across as anything special to me. These have recessed mids, but I donā€™t think I really notice it, so Iā€™m going to guess that itā€™s possible for me to find a headphone with forward mids to be shouty, which I imagine I wouldnā€™t want. I do pick out more detail in the highs and lows as far as the texturing in the sounds goes. Iā€™m not sure about the mids having more detail. I could stand to have more detail in another set, but I wouldnā€™t say itā€™s mandatory. I donā€™t think I really notice any additional sounds to what I was already hearing before I had these. The other part besides the bass impact that I find to be really lacking is the imaging. I still donā€™t get a sense of anything in front, behind, or above me. Everything is just side to side for me. (No idea if itā€™s possible that the songs Iā€™ve played just donā€™t have anything forward, above, or behind me, but I very much doubt this possibility.) I certainly want better imaging. Iā€™m not entirely sure on this part, but I think I get a sense of a having a bit of a metallic timbre. I would prefer to not have this, but it isnā€™t a deal breaker. Iā€™m also aware from what Iā€™ve seen in peopleā€™s reviews of the Focal Elex, that there is a hint of a metallic timbre in that set as well. As far as sound stage goes, I still donā€™t know exactly what I really want in this department. I think it would be nice to have a little more than this current set, but I canā€™t speak on having a super wide sound stage. I canā€™t really say anything on instrument separation as I still donā€™t entirely understand as to what it is and how it differs from imaging, but I think I notice it being improved from what I was using before. I think I have also noticed the speed of the sound delivery felling faster. Certainly feels like an added benefit to have that speed for me. Now, when it comes to comfort, I donā€™t really have any particular issue with it. It would be nice if it were lighter, have a little more clamping force, have deeper pads so my ears donā€™t make contact, and didnā€™t cause my ears to get as warm. Again, none of what I listed is a major issue, just areas that I could see having an improvement. From everything that Iā€™ve seen, everyone describes the Sendy Aiva as aggressive, and this may be the Blon B20s here, but they are suppose to be similar, and I still donā€™t get what exactly makes them sound aggressive. I point this out since there are plenty of headphones that people describe as laid back and/or relaxed, being the opposite of aggressive I presume. Since I donā€™t find these to be aggressive, Iā€™m going to guess I probably wouldnā€™t want something laid back due to my thought process being that if I donā€™t find these aggressive, then any laid back pair is going to probably sound really laid back to me. I could certainly see myself enjoying all kinds of different sounding headphones, but I only really plan on having one pair for a long time, so for now, Iā€™m only looking to go with what I want first and foremost as I wonā€™t have a collection of headphones to switch back and forth between for preferences between songs. If I had multiple pairs, Iā€™m sure I would have a laid back pair in there, but for one headphone only, I donā€™t think thatā€™s what I want. I donā€™t imagine there is one headphone that can do it all, and even if there is, Iā€™m certain it would be way out of my price range. I think this just about covers all my thoughts so far. If Iā€™m refunded my money, I will likely go for the Elex, but Iā€™m open to other options of a similar price. So far I have considered the Focal Elex, Sendy Aiva, Sennheiser HD700, Audeze LCD2C, Hifiman Sundara (Which I know just got a silent revision which just changed the pads I believe.), Hifiman Edition XX, and Beyerdynamic DT1990 Pro. These headphones I have now certainly feel like their magnum opus is treble to me. I would also like to point out again that I listen to pretty much any genre.

I certainly donā€™t hate these headphones, just feel I could do better.

You know, paragraphs make reading large blocks of text much easier.

So for what you want. I donā€™t think the aiva, hd700, and lcd2c would be the best options imo

I think the elex, edition xx, and 1990 would be worth looking into.

I have never probably learned how to use paragraphs. Iā€™m always writing in big chunks like this, but itā€™s never to late to learn. Iā€™d like it if you could teach me some about using paragraphs. English/Writing has never been my strong suite in school. I think I just never really cared and/or was ignorant to doing it the way they considered the right way when they taught the basics a long time ago. If you donā€™t want tell me how, thatā€™s fine, but it would be appreciated.

The big question I have with the DT 1990 Pro is the 8.5k peak in the frequency response people talk about. Iā€™m hesitant of it, because of that peak.

Your English is fine, look at MONā€™s post a few posts back and youā€™ll see paragraphs. Just break the string of sentences when one thought or series of thoughts end and you begin a new thought or series.

Alright, will take that into account.

I donā€™t know if my posts should be referenced for English lol

That could be a concern. Personally I am not bothered by it, but if you are concerned itā€™s fine, there are other options out there for sure
