My introduction to hifi

I would say yes, I think if you really want to burn something in just play it at slightly louder than normal with a wide variety of genre of music. Just listen to the headphone lol, don’t bother with fancy burn in techniques or anything just enjoy the headphone and let yourself get used to it

I think so, a simple pad swap or something simple like that I don’t know if I would call it diy, but if you are doing some more intensive mods I think you could call it a different enough at that point

Would a headband cover like this help with comfort or no? https://m.aliexpress.com/item/32971482504.html?spm=a2g0n.seo-amp-detail.reviewList.0

For focal headphones? Yeah, I think giova uses one and likes them

I know I saw a picture somewhere with that kind of cover on a focal headphone. Think it was the clears and was probably who you mentioned.

I skimmed through the Elex thread and it was giova with the Focal clear headphones.

Yes that is correct. The elex and clear have identical build so it will work the same

Is there a way to see all the messages you’ve sent in a particular thread?

I see you can by clicking frequent posters but I’m not going to show up under that in all threads so is there another way besides that?

use the search when on a particular thread. you can search yourself. if you want to search particular text you can add that.

Thanks, that fixed the problem I was having.

@M0N How would you describe the Elex and Elegia when compared to each other? Also, I would like to have specific details rather than a summary.

Bass: The elex has better extended and more prominent subbass and has less dips or slight anomalies in the bass region. Both are detailed and quick, with the edge going to the elex for better impact and more weight imo

Transition to mid-range from bass is more coherent on the elex

Mid-range: the elex has a bit more boosted mid-range presence, not as linear sounding as the elegia, both have lots of detail, I think the elex sounds more organic here

Transition from mid-range to treble is something I prefer more on the elegia

Treble: both are well extended but I think the extra sparkle in the elex is enjoyable and makes a more sperated sound

Detail overall: I think they are around similar with a slight edge to the elex

Timbre: I somewhat prefer the elex timbre, but both are slightly metallic

Spatial recreation: I think the elex is more impressive in this regard with near 360 degree staging, although the elegia is no slouch but not as accurate

Dynamics: the elex is more dynamic, but the elegia is plenty dynamic and if you find you don’t like something too dynamic (somewhat rare) the elegia is a bit less

Openness: the elex is obviously more open sounding but the elegia is surprisingly open sounding

Build and comfort: pretty much the same but I like the elex pads a bit more. Both cables are rather shite

Amp pairing: both are easier to drive and less amp picky, but I think the elegia might respond to amps more

Overall: elegia is somewhat more neutral and very impressive for closed, but imo if you don’t prefer closed and want a bit more of a fun W, the elex is my pick

Sweet, grats! My Elex replacement will come in a few days so I too am waiting for one lol
What amp/dac are you gonna drive it with?

Jds labs atom and topping D10 as that is my starter amp/dac. Down the line if I feel it’s necessary, I may change to something else as either an upgrade or wanting to color them in a certain way. I’ll just have to listen to them to find out. Hoping I won’t find these too bright to my ears. I don’t think I will from what I’ve read, but you never know until you hear the real deal I guess. Also, fingers crossed I don’t get struck by QC issues.

That’s a good pair for it. I don’t think they’re particularly bright, some people complain about the frequency range around 5k but I only find it a concern in very few songs. So I guess it depends on what you listen to and how treble sensitive you are. And I’m low key nervous about QC issues too tbh cause I would hate to have to return the one I get. In the end the warranty will cover it but it’s just a hassle having to go through with it. We should be fine though, hopefully! lol

My biggest fear with QC is whether it will strike years later or only within the first few months. I’ve only ever heard of issues appearing within the first few months of these headphones. I would just really hate for something to happen to it when the warranty runs out. Idk if the drivers dying issue is something that could possibly lie dormant for that long or if it will always show itself in those first few months. Also curious now if QC issues for headphones in general are consistent with saying 1 out of every 20 headphones has a problem for instance or if it comes in waves, if maybe 200 headphones were ordered to be made and there is one bad apple, and then later in time 500 more were ordered and this time around 50 came out bad.

Hmm, I get what you mean but I wouldn’t worry to much about it. 2 years is plenty of time for issues to come up and most of the QC issues with the elex pop up pretty early so you would know way before then. From what I’ve read there’s companies out there with worse track records and shorter warranties so try not to overthink it and stay positive!

Arrived about 30 minutes ago, but I won’t be home for another 2 and a half hours.

Niceee, very curious to see what you think if it :+1:
