4 clicks with the headband is good for my head. I most have a small head because I can’t tell if this even has any clamping force for me.
The focals typically don’t have too much clamping force. If you have a larger head they might have a bit more
Coming from the HD600 I found the Elex uncomfortable the first day but eventually it grew on me.
Yeah it took me around a week of wearing them constantly for me to no longer mind them
I’m still having a hard time noticing anything majorly different. If there is any difference it still seems just very subtle to me so far.
Just give it time and listen for a few days, for some people their first impressions vary greatly
Could you link something that should demonstrate the imaging capabilities of a headphone?
People always love to go on about how yosi horikawa tracks are good for that lol
Tomorrow spring break will start for me so I’ll get plenty of time to listen to it in the coming week.
Can solid state vs a tube amp affect the speed of the sound? Also, if you use a headphone with a right and left connection for the wire, can you buy a cable to use in just the right or left yoke or no?
Yes, a tube amp is going to be slower in that regard for attack and decay
I guess you can, but why lol (just curious)
Can you explain what exactly decay is to me and it’s because of this image I saw from the FiiO UTWS1 thread.
So regarding the cables, some headphones are wired for a single sided connector, so the cable carries both left and right channel audio, where on something like the elex the cables are mono jacks to the cups, so each side would have one channel going into it.
Since this is a more easy to understand definition
“Attack refers to the beginning buildup of a note. This means how quickly the instrument expresses all of its frequencies and if there are any differences in the onset of harmonics. Decay refers to how long the fundamental frequency and harmonics remain at their peak loudness until they start to disappear.”

Leaving the box it comes in open was a bad idea as after a few hours going to look back at it, the weight got to the strand that holds the top of the box to keep it from opening all the way tearing some of the foam there. Now I wonder if I can make it stay open without it breaking that strap or not. I think if I maybe tape or glue the foam that’s coming off of the roof of the box I can get it to stay.
What aspects are affected by burn in, because surely some things won’t change from out of the box.
I mean the performance can improve overall, but for the elex it’s going to be more mental burn in and getting used to the signature. Typically with burn in, the sound will get more balanced, less harsh, and overall more refined, but the elex doesn’t really have a bit burn in period or anything, but it did take me a few days of constant listening to get used to them at first imo.
Also make sure you are using at least decent quality source material, and make sure you have your electronics set up properly
Well, looking at the box further, I think the solution would be to use a hot glue gun to get it to stick again and I think that’s what they did originally.
Definitely get that fixed! You need a place to store the 2 cables!!!
I just noticed that if you blow on the driver it moves.
