what make and height stands are you using? Just curious…
Sanus NF 24. 24”. I have a pretty low seat and they looked about right but I had to head out work after the speakers showed up so not 100% sure yet.
Sounds like the wrong day to not call in sick lol.
I did think about it lol So tempting
Set them up today and I find them really easy to dial in which is nice after my time with the genese trio’s. Started with a 5’ triangle no toe in and I’m now at about 4 1/2’ with pretty significant toe in. Oddly enough it was the left speaker only that I couldn’t get to disappear. There was a gap between it and the centre image that was really distracting.
Anyways that’s fixed now and I’m really liking what I’m hearing so far hooked up to the Yamaha and ares ii (pontus isn’t here yet)
Really? Toe in at 4 1/2’? That’s so very different from my own experiences with my versions, i have not needed much if any toe in, I am using them nearfield though and it’s been many months since i played with them at mid-field, i can’t remember what i did then. Very happy to hear you are getting some time in with them.
Yup. That’s my experience so far. I mean different rooms and configurations are probably going to garner different result
After hitting play on Gordon Lightfoot for an hour then play on Joni Mitchell for another hour I’m confident saying I love these speakers. Really really good first impression
To some, it’s a personal thing anyways. I feel that toe in gives the listener more imaging and a clearer center while less toe in or straight out gives more stage and presentation.
Agreed and even with no toe in honestly I thought the centre image was pretty bang on. Imaging is more important to me personally than stage width and the toe in filled in the gap I was talking about in the above post. I will continue experimenting with placement but for now this is sounding pretty sweet so I’ll let it be for awhile and just enjoy listening.
I do allot of listening with my eyes closed,
…I find that helps me better position my speakers for sound that i find most relaxing. This way i don’t focus as much on perfect visual spacing, i focus more on what my ears and mind tells me sounds good. I know that sounds really weird but i hear better with my eyes closed
This can drive me nuts lol
Where’s Jose at? You could borrow his blindfold
Sooo one sub isn’t working and while I wait for a response from Rythmik I’d like to trouble shoot a bit.
With both subs (speaker level) I’ve switched out speaker cables and power cords and used them both in left and right channel. Each time the same sub works and the same one doesn’t.
So my next thought is use RCA’s. Forgive my ignorance but do I go LOOP OUT on the parasound a23+ to LINE IN on the sub? There’s also HPF OUT on the sub?
Loop out to line in.
Did one sub stop working or didn’t work to begin with?
The latter unfortunately. The box didn’t look damaged and I was very careful during setup so I’m at a loss.
Edit: RCA didn’t work either. Thanks @A_Jedi .
Check the fuse, there should be one under a little plastic piece on the power receptacle
Also, if they are similar to some other subs i have tried there is a specific power sequence to get them to mate and daisy chain when using 2 together. It is NOT necessarily always a simple plug and play simple diddy, you have to get the second one to know it is being daisy chained sometimes.
Thanks for the suggestion! I looked and the fuse looks fine. It also came with an extra which I also tried with no luck. As for the daisy chain conundrum that’s good knowledge but using RCA’s rules that out for now I would think.
So on its own the single “bad” subwoofer will power up but NOT Output any sound? I am assuming it is powering up?
That’s correct. It powers up.
Damn that’s annoying dude. Rythmik isn’t known for crappy products. I wonder if it’s something silly like one of the wires between amp and driver isn’t well connected. I would pull the driver out and check but that’s just me - you may not want to given that’s it’s brand new and under warranty.
