Although I am curious when you mentioned that they trade blows with your 660. Is there an aspect that you find really similar or comparable?

People seem to say the Phantoms aren’t intimate which I can kinda understand but sorta disagree with, the 660’s are more (listening here now via Tidal Masters, ifi Nano BL both phones back to back) studio inmate were as the Phantom’s give a more “live intimacy”…The phantoms seem to add space to the whole performance (Kate Bush Sensual world) and even things like Linkin Park, the space and control the Phantoms posses seem to separate the instruments offering individuality and space, but a still manage to recreate a whole and well focused image while leaving the vocals detailed and central… vocals a tad wider with the Phantoms than the 660’s mind.
Love the 660’s especially when tube driven and the Phantoms, just need a pair of Fostex’s for closed back stuff :+1:

yes…but if you exercise some patience, Monolith is coming out with what look to be another clone at an even lower price.

Yes, I would think it would be identical

I’m eagerly anticipating Monolith’s new headphone line. I doubt every one will be the home run that the THX 889 is, but if they even get close they’ll be a fantastic value.

What is this “patience” you speak of? :slightly_smiling_face:

Never heard of it. Lemme ask my wallet if it knows what it means

it is a super power. I happen to possess it…usually.

Ah you bought it? Impressions?

How about used HE 560? Because you liked the 4XX I think the 560 is worthy of consideration. They need POWER though.

Pretty sure the original poster already made a few decisions, but I agree the he560 is great as long as you opt for an he560 v1, and they do really need a fair amount of power to sound their best.

I ended up going with the HyperX Cloud Orbits because I mostly game but I am still looking for another $350 set of Open Back Planars for Music and games so all recommendations are very welcome. I was told to wait on buying anything for right now as Monoprice is releasing a new line of stuff along with a bunch of other companies. I regret not getting the BLON B20’s to be honest since they are basically Sendy Aiva’s for $350 on Massdrop.

The sendys are essentially a closer more aggressive sundara with more treble detail and suck out mids. Also I have heard the m570 is closer to the sendy

if you can push your budget to $400…monitor the reviews on the JUST released Audeze LCD-1’s.

Do the recent Chi-fi planars like the B20 and Sendys make the cheaper hifiman obsolete?

Not really imo. Like how people were freaking out about the phantom and really kinda disregarding the sundara, but the sundara is a great headphone. I really just think the stuff is worth it’s price
