New 350$ Planars -Thieaudio Phantom

Here is my inital eq tweak for getting rid of veil. Treble needs a little tweaking but not too bad. This is for use with angled pleather pads.

Here is an eq for the stock perforated pads, again to remove veil. Looks a bit drastic…

Thanks I’ll give em a shot! Yeah, I needed a lot of treble (~10 dB in some places) for it to sound right to me… Could be my particular set/mods measure differently - certainly my frequency response was much different than what DMS showed in his vid.

A couple questions for the more experienced modders:

I’m interested in trying the Fuzzor Mod. Can anyone recommend a good material to try this (with link)?

Also I’ve noticed that since I took the foam off, the adhesive is worn down so when I try to put the foam back, it doesn’t stay. Any suggestions for what I can use to safely reattach the foam (especially if I decide to sell these).

Thanks!

That will be my setup when it finally arrived. Shipped today and set to arrive in…10 days???

Pretty much anything that is less dense than the metal will work as a ‘fuzzor’. Probably a thick foam would work fine. If you decide not to sell I would honestly just use the thick foam on the driver on the earcup side. You can just mount with double sticky tape.

I’m planning on CADing up some front and back side fazors one of these days and I’ll probably sell em depending on how much it costs to 3D print them (I don’t have my own printer unfortunately…).

Nice! You’re gonna love it man, no need for a new DAC or amp for the rest of our lives pretty much

I was gonna buy a pair, but that DMS review got me alarmed. But most are still saying it’s the real deal so i don’t know. Maybe when they fix that grille.

Don’t be in a hurry, these are controversial for sure.

The sliders on Peace don’t change the sound - Is it because I am using ASIO or am I missing something blatantly obvious?

Check if it’s ON on the top right corner. If it is but sound doesn’t change, go into your Equalizer APO folder, open configurator.exe and make sure your audio device is selected.

It’s a fun headphone with moding and I think there could be more mods once things like grills and fazzor are made. My opinion is buy this if your going to mod them.

I’d buy the fazor from s_beck if you make them.

APO wasn’t installed correctly. Working now thanks.

EQ definitely fixes them for me. Was just about there on tubes but I can keep these now.

All I’ve done are pad changes, how much would I need to do?

What pads are those and did you buy from Amazon? So you didn’t remove the material attached to the grill?

You should remove the foam behind the ear pads. If I where you i’d do one mod at a time until it sounds good. Seems people are doing different things. I took the foam from behind the earpads and moved it to behind the grill and removed the material from the grill and that’s how I like it.

We told you :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: lol and as I originally said… “Bass wise they’re tight, fast with a deep, not super sub sound but solid enough and man they can go loud

Enjoy :beers:

Just curious, what do you/other people think a fair price would be for a set of 3D printed fazors that just clip onto the driver?
