I know you clearly state unlimited budget but you are also looking to NOT use a DAC or amp. Truth is I would not spend more than $200 tops for that scenario. You can get plenty good sound for fairly cheap, you’re only getting so much out of your source…

a close friend recently asked me if i would sell him the cheaper headphones I have sitting around, I said I’d rather just buy him a pair of his own as gift. I actually use all of mine and the cheaper stuff sounds damned good too. Also, different stuff has different use scenarios…Better is relative…

My Cal’s and T2’s have MORE listening time on them than ANYTHING else I own regardless of cost. That’s because they are inexpensive enough that I actually have them w/ me all the time and I travel a bunch. I would much rather have to replace them than a $500 anything. Also my little Fiio amp comes w/ me allot. just for that extra little punch

lol ,my mh 755’s have the most listening time of my iems cause they are cheap and can take a beating and fit me super well. sound great as well.

Anyone have experience with the akg k240s 55 ohm? They’re super cheap and metal571 seemed to like them. Easy to drive?
They are pretty good imo, nice headphone for the price

Quick update I’ve purchased the k240’s and the sr60e’s!!! Thanks for all the suggestions and I’ll continue adding to the list given further ones
