Im not necessarily saying “X is fine but garb Y”.
I guess going back to my initial thought what i meant was that reviewers tend to compare within the same price bracket and i get why.
I appreciate comparisons in different price bracket.

I saw a hell of a deal on one on head fi for $600 but couldn’t pull the trigger

Ah! That I do agree. I’ve touched that on IE600 review and the upcoming ZP as well. I just think that if I wanna get them shorter and more concise, that’s not following that line, so I will have to somehow incorporate it.
There’s also one reason for people to avoid that. It’s very hard to find 1:1 upgrades/downgrades. Given techs are heard differently but everyone and libraries are also all over the place, one might not agree with the other. But I will try my best.

Ive seen it multiple times closer to 500. Also LETSHUOER runs some sales and pretty sure you can get it close to 600 brand new!

hi there @nymz . have you (or do you plan to) heard FIIO UTWS5 ??
I have KZ AZ09 Pro and I really like the form factor. It Also sounds pretty good for the price and for my CRA sounds almost as good as the cable. but with Olina it just doesn’t do it justice and doesn’t have that special sauce. that 3D magic. and I rather use Olina with something like FIIO BTR3K balanced output which sounds just amazing on it.
It’ll be very good if there’d be something with form factor of AZ09 Pro and sound of BTR3K

What tips do you use with the Olina. I know on the airship tips make huge differences and they are based on the O2 as well.
The UTWS5 is amazing. Especially as a BT solution.
Though, as with the UTWS3, the QC is absolutely awful so I would avoid both unless you can buy local and don’t have to deal with inevitably shipping it back to China.
That said, for the Olina, the UTWS3 which is more widely available (and cheaper!) should do the job good enough. The only things the 5 has over the 3 is a lower noise floor (necessary for the more expensive all-BA sets like the U12t), ambient sound mode (which is pretty bad), and aptx adaptive for lower latency (only really useful for gaming)

I can use any tip with Olina really. It just seals and sounds great. I prefer bassier tips (narrow) in stock and wider on double filter (open up treble, stage)

Lots of people report qc problems. Should I avoid? I wanna try one of those hooks back background noise is a no go for me - it literally makes me go insane.
I would like to know whats a good tws, no matter the price so I can compare to bt amps.
Sad and beautiful at the same time day for me. My Teas found a new home as well and also someone who is really impressed by them (so potential new member of the cult). That is always nice thing to hear
@nymz are you getting some of the latest collabs by any chance? Diokos, Zeros, Makas, Kais etc? I want to fill a void left behind tea somehow and those Zeros by Cri (very interesting tuning) + Kais by HBB (solving the fit and brightness problem) seem like great purchases for 130$ in total.

Yeah it’s a tough one since it is the best and yeah for your IEMs you would need to bite the bullet on the 5 instead of the 3.
But man, the QC… I think Amazon at one point had the 5 in stock.
Ok, I will say, there’s actually a hack you can do for now… Before the revised UTWS5 comes out. And that is that the QC issues largely are with the case breaking. In which case, the UTWS3 case works fine for the 5. So you can get that as backup which is what I did after two of my 5 cases stopped working and I didn’t feel like dealing with the months of shipping back and forth.

Those neckbands really aren’t worth it anymore, IMO. Once you go TWS with seperate left and right ear devices you never go back to tethering your ears.
