Nice to hear that, i m much more in the mood to buy iems then dacs, maybe i l have to check tips also.
I am totally a non audiophile listener, most of the terms i ve been reading here are new to me, i just really like music. I m used to the warmth of my vinyl player, but now with a newly arrived baby in the house and the long walks i do outside things are changing a bit. I guess i feel that I really like the meles for most everything I listen to thats played by a band, but I feel in some tracks I would like a more defined but still strong and evolving bass. I feel that specially in the techno i listen to like planetary assault systems, or oscar mulero, and also in those tracks of techno dub like basic channel etc…
Sorry, still cannot express mysslf with your terms, but the learning curve is steep right now!
Just read you re also from portugal, força aí!

I did not understand anything . Do you want headphones with more clarity and bass that sound warmer and more comfortable?

Now that i ve been reading a little moore sounds even more like the variations might be what i m looking for. But I am also shure that someday i l end up with a real basshead set also. Hard to make decisions in this game!

I guess I want to feel more the bass, especially the sub bass.
Sorry, too much talk

My appeal with the teas was also the tamed highs and the confort that seems to come with that

Variations and Monarch and the kings of sub-bass, but that comes in the expense of mid-bass and slam. You’ll have to figure out if that affects your library. None of the is a basshead set, and their mid-bass level is nowhere near something like Mele.

Yes, that’s one the reasons Teas are on of my favourite sets. I tend to favour darker treble sets of sparkly but not evasive ones.

Choose a set that has a subbass / midbass - 50/50 or 60/40.

Sounds like the Fiio x Crinacle FHE might for you.

Agree with @SoundEater especially with techno like Planetary Assault System you want mid bass as well as sub bass. The Variations has little mid bass and Mele starts rising at 600Hz which makes it warm. You may want something in between those two.

Thanks, i l check that out. I l also keep reading a while, this forum is knowledge goldmine!

Do that. Let us know if you need any help :love_you_gesture:

EJs, RSV, teas

How do you compare the sound of Teas to MEST MK1 for rock and generally vocal music? From graphs it looks quite similar apart from high frequency

I am waiting for Teas to arrive hopefully tomorrow, managed to sell T800 for really good price today so it looks like good justification for spending.

BTW I regret that selling went this fast after I posted the listing as I only have Meles on me right now and they are nowhere near as engaging as T800 was. It seems like engagement is something I am looking for when I use IEMs which I was not aware before loosing them.

In theory I should be set and satisfied with upcoming new baby, but the thing is that on Head-fi there is an offer for used Mest from UK for 550 GBP which is by far lowest I have seen. I have a chance for my brother to bring me those near Christmas to skip the customs and it seems like one chance on a milion. And reselling them without loosing should not be a problem in Poland if I do not like them.

The problem is that I am afraid that I may like them too much to sell. It is terrifying to have this vision of 750 USD down the drain already, when I honestly started my hobby just couple months ago and really thought I would never go over 100 USD for no matter what reason… Would that be a limit then?

This hobby is truly a nightmare for wallet :open_mouth:

PS I really recommend anyone to buy those mest to spare me a trouble

Yanyin Aladdin sounds good as well.
If my hearings are tired, I prefer the Aladdin over the Traillii for a smooth and easy listening.

My wife would like to say thanks if you’ll finalize the transaction

Did any of you had a chance to listen to Oriolus MK 2 or Reborn? I heard the vocals are heavenly and they are 250 USD cheaper than mest. Probably no Wow factor as MEST has, but still may be good buy (they have PW Audio no. 5 cable as stock even)

Mest’s graph is missleading. The treble is more present than it graphs on that pinna gain. Mest is superior, as expected by it’s price. There’s something about it that throw me off, but it’s a great IEM and one of the best I’ve had chance to hear. Keep in mind OG fit is not as good as Mk2.

Thanks for the input. I gotta admit that Aladdin got me, at least, curious. Maybe I’ll get a pair one of these days

Sorry, never heard anything from Oriolus

Had the Reborn. Mids are among the best ever. So intimate, personal yet dimensional. Large and powerful sound. Mediocre highs and pretty good bass, but the mids man :ok_hand:t2:

They are however 6 years old at the point, you can do better for the money overall I think.

Thank you for the answer. That is also something that I was expecting as the IEM world grows so fast. What would you recommend in up to 750$ for the mids and vocals from newer stuff?

RSV, EJ07 for sure up there. Depends on how you like bass/treble

Thanks for the help everyone. Also got really curious with the aladdin, didn t read about it before and people seem to really love it, everybody agreeing on that confortable listening experience.
For now i ve been really down the rabbit hole of info of this forum and shifted gears a bit. Ended up buying some used dunu zen that are on the way, right now I already understood that this new interest is going to dig deep in my pocket. I m too curious to find one set and settle with it.
For now i m hopefully done for a while, thanks again!
