Oracle?

Lecture time: IEC60318-4 is just a standard that has been licensed internationally by IEC. All couplers that follow this standard will have that label on it, you can read more about it here:

But that is essentially why couplers arent accurate above 10khz, because that is literally in the design itself.

IEC711 is the hardware, the coupler that was intended for the calibration of iems. Which pretty much all reviewers are using for graph measuring.
The hardware itself is also not intended for the full 20 - 20khz range measuring.

So if you want to graph iems, what you want is a coupler called IEC711 (which is a clone from china cuz the real thing is expensive) that follows the IEC60318-4:2010 standard.

Here is where I and most others I know bought the coupler from:

Before u ask, no, you do not need the ā€œtest fixturesā€ as those are meant to measure only the raw/naked driver itself. As for the ā€œUSB sound cardā€, it is recommended to get that one as well if you dont already have a soundcard with a mic input and even if you do, you might want to get that usb sound card to keep things even more similar among fellow graphers.

Looks like Iā€™m buying the Performer 5ā€¦ Unless it sounds too close to the Monarch2 then maybe not. Thoughts?

I kinda think Akrosā€™ review where he said P5 would beat the Hisenior Mega5p, unless itā€™s price was closer to $300 is a low-key important reason why they came at $219. That price undercuts the WHOLE market (above $100) if itā€™s what people are saying it is.

If it sounds too close to MMk2, wouldnā€™t you want to save the money and go a different way?

Yup! Thatā€™s why Iā€™m asking. The graph looks the same so if they do sound the same too (or very close minus the tech part) then Iā€™ll just skip it since I also got the Hexa that has a different tuning :love_you_gesture:

Yeah, itā€™s closer than it graphs IMO. A tad warmer

Anyone know anything about this IEM? Tingker H16 8BA Monitoring Earphone Interchangable Cable In-Ear IEMs ā€” HiFiGo

8BA ~$250 and has that winnerā€™s DNA

Yo how does the Vulcan compare vs Mahina?

And is the treble drop at 10K noticeable? Seems like unit variance maybeā€¦

The treble response is unit variance + the post-resonance grain of salt, Iā€™d say

:eyes: now Iā€™m interested. Iā€™ve seen some of his stuff on youtube, really cool dude.

Past 8k doesnt count. My u12t graph shows a hole when itā€™s not there. Coupler variation, tips, peak alignment, unit var, so much stuff.

Mahina is warmer and has more mid presence. Vulkan has better mid bass texture and imaging. They are different, with Mahina being more engaging, or less boring if you will. (from the top of my head, cant a/b right now)

From what I remember, it is good but maybe not 250$ good. If you can grab it for less than 200, it becomes good value. You can contact tingker on AliExpress, they often offer good discounts.
