It really does. It’s hard to put a finger on, but it has this kind of musically smooth presentation that is very nice to listen to. It’s my go to bluetooth DAC when using IEMs or buds where more power isn’t needed.
as someone who honestly only opened the app to check for a firmware update I’ve never had issues with the BTR7 besides the power on/off taking forever
So you haven’t played around with the PEQ function at all? I’m surprised, man - I haven’t stopped playing around with it!
Fiio is a hardware seller/maker. They don’t do software.
The result is, like any “traditional makers company” : the software is archaic, buggy and slow. Think of all the car manufacturers compared to Tesla, and you’ll get a glimpse of the situation of fiio Vs qudelix.
Besides that, fiio don’t do only bt dongles, so they may not perceive the qudelix entrance as such big of an enemy.
Honestly, the best thing to do for fiio would probably be buy qudelix and hope for the knowledge to not leak during the buying. But I’m not sure it would even suffice as it really is a different approach.
The qudelix , as a french reviewer said , is an engineer thing: you get all the options, all the controls over the thing, even if it means you break it all by changing some things you don’t understand. It sure is very classy for full-on enthusiast like us, but for common people… Fiio had to care about common people, given how wide is their audience.
if I sold some of my sets I probably would but I don’t really use portables that often anyways
That makes perfect sense - your ending statement specifically:
While the app doesn’t give you that enthusiasts control over the music like the Q5K might, I would assume that because more ‘normal’ people would be buying the product, those normal consumers would be less patient with a less than ideal experience on the app side.
I digress, I don’t know what I’m talking about but what I do know is, FiiO software kind of sucks. I love the product, pretty much everything about it, but that software would probably be a deal breaker for most.
Makes perfect sense - my life style requires me to ONLY use portables. Having a proper desktop set up is definitely down the road and something I’d love to experience one day though.
Last call for Santa Mymz
Ok I’m almost done with this charade, but man am I happy about it.
I only have a couple of sets left, starter cheap sets, like CRAs and stuff. Is anyone interested in getting a cookie to try cheap sets/have some to gift?
Couple of things to note:
- First, most of you won’t receive it by Xmas, but the intention is there.
- Second, carry it forward. Share around, if you don’t like anything you get or don’t need it, give it out to someone else.
- Third, keep in mind true my A/Bs might take a hit in the future, but don’t tell anyone
Let me know by PM. I still have 1 or 2 more people to reach out, but the bulk is done. I still have Edition XS and HD600 to sell, so if someone in interested, I’ll give a great bro deal.
Love,
Santa
So, I have a lot to catch up.
How was 11.11 and BF for you guys? Too much of a hit on your wallets? I only bought two items (on sale). I wanna see what you guys got so I don’t feel as bad sharing these
This year on BF I am very disciplined. I just bought the Olina SE for $79 with free shipping from Linsoul. I’m curious to know why there was all this hype around SE. Some people say it’s the best DD under $300, maybe, I don’t know. HarmonicDyne 2DD is also out now, it may be as good or better than Olina technically, but this company has bad FRs sometimes. We will see…
Oooo, We will see what Santa N!Claus will put under the tree .
During 11.11, I bought salnote zeros, tin p1Max and s12pro.
I spent the more time with the p1Max; they are good (especially for 80$), but aren’t astonishingly so.
S12 sounded great to me at first but on another listening session I found them a bit harsh.
With both sets, I noticed a difference between sources: they can’t produce good bass with the q5K, compared to my smsl ho100.
The zeros are the same story as the s12: I found it good at start, but on line sessions they have me a feeling of being cramped/too closed in.
All this may be due to global bad health tried with the new season here in Bretagne.
The next step for me is to spend more time with the s12 to get used to it, and organise a 100$ shootout: s12 Vs p1Max Vs olina Vs trn ST5. I continue postponing it as I already struggle A/Bing 2 sets…
On the bright side: with all these things to do, I don’t feel any urge to buy a new set (although I have several new additions on my radar).
Let me know what’s on your radar, I think Santa missed you so far!
I’m so scared to ask, you have no idea!
I have quite a variety on my radar, but mainly recent stuff I’m not sure you ever got in your hands:
Yanyin canon
Mega5p
Aful performer5
Penon fan 2
Dunu Talos
Dunu kima
Truthears hexa
Isn H30
I think Santa didn’t cross my name yet because I just didn’t write him a letter. I was so quiet that nobody heard me
That is a good list, though
I bought 1 thing from Letshouer. After a very drawn out process that can be read here: Rant thread - share your grievances, not just audio - #1802 by Nerf_Mozambique
I am pleased to say that I own a pair of ej07ms now. I ended up getting them for an absolute steal at $462 brand new. Now just have to wait for customs to stop dragging their hands across the floor so I can get them
I’m proud of my self (fluffs collar) I didn’t buy a single thing during the BF madness besides the Hexa from @Sonofholhorse - I had my eyes on them since they were announced and seeing that they were pretty new, I didn’t expect them to go on sale. Getting them second hand but basically pretty much brand new is a win win!
Same. I was damn close to buying the Ripples and a new portable source but I held off (for now). Okay… I lied. I did buy a cable during 11.11
Oh, then I also bought cables. Forgot about those. Oh and tips
I ordered the Hiby W3 Saber, gonna turn my Sony MDR-1AM2 into a BT hp.
