Nymzreviews.com official thread

The Fiios both absolutely rock in terms of sound and comfort and absolutely suck in terms of build quality, QC, and software. But like I mentioned in the other thread, they’re our only real option for TWS Bluetooth adapters so either you get one of the Fiio adapters or buy a dedicated TWS earbud. :person_shrugging:t2:

@darkgod5 summed it better than I could. Basicly Fiio or bust. Maybe wait a couple of months or go tws

Might also be nice to keep an eye for, seems like Qualcomm has developed a lossless codec named “aptx lossless” which is found from their “Snapdragon Sound”. Some devices has it already. I think UTWS5 has it.

Now that it’s been publically revealed, here’s some footage of the finished faceplate/shell: Frame.io

Really cool looking, didn’t expect it to have a resin type finish over the faceplate as it looks like it has dimension and almost a 3D effect in that picture … But they do look like chonky boys tho …

BTW, there was a rumor mentioned on headfi that the company that makes the Qudelix5k is developing a TWS adapter to compete with Fiio’s UTWS line that’s supposed to work with Qudelix’s app with all their parametric EQ software and such. If EQ is your thing, it seems like the folks at Qudelix are much more into their software development which seems to be one of the complaints you’ll hear occasionally about the Fiio stuff.

I’ll see if I can find anymore info about it over there and I’ll post anything I find here. As I remember it was a rumor based on something that was mentioned during a discussion with someone from Qudelix on a Chinese audiophile forum or something like that.

If that’s real, yeah that’s a game changer

Shopping for the in-laws can be tough! At least my hopefully future father-in-law is into a couple things I’m into (Scotch and vintage watches) so I don’t have as much trouble buying stuff for him. His wife on the other hand…if I bought her an LP she’d probably just use it as a coaster. That’s how far apart we are on things lol!

You gotta get to know her, after all. My gf’s mom’s taste in music is not much like mine. But she goes the symphony a lot, so for…I think Mother’s Day, we (I) got her a Handel & Haydn Society CD, and she loved it.

Gotta play to her strengths, is all

I’ve been dating her daughter for 8 years. At this point I think I know her about as well as she wants me to. :joy: And don’t get me wrong, I can always find some relatively generic gift that she’ll like, but I just don’t get what makes her tick so I have realy trouble getting her something great.

I think I got it this year though. I had the jewelry designer that made the engagement ring I got for my girl design a brooch and bracelet set based on some designs she mentioned liking when we were discussing ring ideas. It came out even better than I pictured, just like the ring, so this is actually the best I’ve felt about a present for her in long time.

P.S. Sorry for the off topic post nymz!

Well this is huge. Thank for this - I was just about to considering looking into the Offerings from FiiO and just accept the fact that the UI absolutely sucks on the app.

This could get interesting.

So farI haven’t found any updates to the original few posts where a member of headfi from China says that he’s part of a Chinese audiophile forum and that one of the engineers from Qudelix was answering questions in an “ask me anything” kinda Q&A session about possible updates to the 5k and future products in the works. Apparently someone asked him if the had any plans for a tws adapter like the Fiio UTWS5 and he said that he couldn’t give out any details but that it’s product that they’re working on. The engineer goes on to say that it won’t be replacing their bluetooth DAC form factor and would just be another option or alternative.

Interesting. Qudelix is a Korean company, so I wonder if they did the AMA in English or Korean…pity I missed it

This is exactly what I’m talking about, my dude! You took something that she showed you she liked, and you tailored the gift around that concept. That’s HUGE!

Plus you’re making a very personal and (hopefully) sentimental present. If she doesn’t like it, I’ll like it for her

I don’t know. Apparently this Chinese forum he’s a part of has these Q&A sessions with audio industry folks regularly. It sounds pretty cool.

I sent PMs to the two guys that I remember talking about it to see if they’ve heard anything else on the matter.
