So not a truth ear zero competitor then I see

I havenā€™t heard the Zeros, so I canā€™t speak on that comparison. It may of been down to fit, please note. I couldnā€™t get a decent fit with 4 different tips so eventually when I finally heard what sounded like some mid bass, I ran with that but they still came off a bit flat to me.

Genuinely though, donā€™t take my word for it. Itā€™s just my observation.

Sure itā€™s a TE Zero competitorā€¦but I donā€™t think Zero is good either :man_shrugging:t5:

You donā€™t have to write ā€œsorryā€ to anyone. You are just writing your impressions. You donā€™t must have the fear to write something of negative. Before to push the ā€œbuyā€ button, I like to read different impressions and opinions. So different opinions are very useful for me (and for many others).

Queues everywhere, ultra-resolution, good soundstage with very good diffuse image distribution (for me itā€™s not good to talk about 3D, itā€™s wrong) and good comfort , from highs to lows everything is done with taste and finesse, without sharp peaks and screaming, lightning transients . The emphasis is not on quantity, but on mind-blowing quality . The sub bass oh my God the sub bass, fakmself :crazy_face:ā€¦ These IE600 gems arrived today. And yes, they are better than all the Chinese IEMs I have, no doubt,it didnā€™t take me long to figure it out . Listening to them is almost a religious audiophile experienceā€¦ Much has already been written about other things, including by nymz :notes: :purple_heart: :purple_heart: :purple_heart: :purple_heart: :purple_heart: :purple_heart: :purple_heart: :purple_heart:!
GOD IS A DJā€¦

Are you using the Azla vivids as well? They have really good synergy with the IE600 imo!

Well one can be sorry as in sorrowful, sad that the joyful expectations werenā€™t met.

Iā€™m trying different tips now, I got the IE600 a few hours ago. :relieved:

This ^ I say sorry as a friend mostly. I want to enjoy everything Chris makes, or at least find some redeeming qualities about his sets because heā€™s part of our small community here and as far as Iā€™m concerned, weā€™re something of a family. But I canā€™t hold back my opinions.

Me too. He had some great sets like the Olina (well, modded/SE/airship), Mahina, and QKZ (broke in a week tho), but also some misses for me like the KAI/melee, KZ, KL (Mainly QC issues at its price), and now possibly the Khan. Off memory I think I still prefer the Khan over the truthears Zero since itā€™s less shouty, but mids/vocals are too recessed for me, possibly due to the lack of mid-bass, which is weird because the Quarks DSP is fine - probably because of more uppermids/less treble.

The Olina SE is an amazing IEM, one of my favorites at any price. I still wonder how they managed to make it so good. :slightly_smiling_face:

Agreed - I liked the Mele for what it was at the time. In todays market, itā€™s absolutely totally outclassed but the shells were beautiful and I remember when they first released - it was a beautiful time. The Olina SE is a fantastic IEM, period. For its time, it was class leading and in some ways, it still is which is saying a lot. None of us are perfect so itā€™s okay for him to have a few misses in my book. As for the Khan, Iā€™m not 100% sure what theyā€™re missing, but a good mid bass area is one of the issues I have with the set. They land flat. They also lacked any texture from my short listen. But again, itā€™s alright - I bet thereā€™s a person for every kind of signature.

Ahah, hello Mr. and Mrs. Gobber,

Happy new easter and merry new pizza.

I currently cannot give a date. Ripples didnā€™t get neglected but rather preserved. At that time, tgx was having problems getting stock and was almost working to exhaustion. I decided it could wait a couple weeks and then life happened.

Ripples will be featured in an incoming article of mine. I do not like you hanging, so Iā€™ll make some judgment calls for you.

Firstly, thereā€™s one thing I gotta disclose well. Ripples aint as stage wide as the Serratus. It has a more intimate, closer to a good IEM stage. In short, Serratus main party trick is not featured and people that love serratus for that, might look elsewhere.

Secondly, and after putting some good thoughts into it, I do think that Ripples canibalizes Alpha and Tantalus, so you can see where this is heading us to. I will rerank Tantalus and other buds, and Ripples will have the same rank as Serratus. Given that, I think you should get Ripples instead of any of the two, tonality speaking.

Thirdly, whatā€™s the tonality of the Ripples afterall? Well, it ainā€™t sub-bass focused like the queen, but has its fair share. The star, the gem and the desert is the mid-bass. Not only it gives an insane timbre to the mid-range (read: wet), but it stars a mouth-watering mid-bass texture. To give you some context, if Serratus is U12T, Ripples would be TriĆ³. I do nothing think it is very close to Trio anywhere else, but you get the idea. I thing the Focal Clear analogy is spot on, tho.

The mids are pretty nice and the best of the 4 models - especially vocals. The treble falls into a darkish neutral, where the serratus and the alpha are brighter.

Fourth, the techs. Well, we already know stage ainā€™t Serratus. Violins and cymbals ainā€™t Alphaā€™s timbre, but godamn if pianos are Ripplesā€™. Detail is pretty up there, less than serratus, more than Tantalus (from the top of my head). Now, what seals the f*cking deal, are the D Y N A M I C S. Yes, capital letters.

Fifth and last: the con Iā€™ve told you in private - its cable weights more than Serratus. Thatā€™s it. Lol.

As Iā€™ve said, Ripples might be his finest creation so far. Serratus has its own spot. They leave together as king and queen of my desk, putting kilobucks to shame. Unless you are an extreme basshead, but for that you shouldnā€™t be looking at buds anyway.

(Fun fact: it took me 10h to write this down. Actually 10 mins, but with a 9h50 interruptionā€¦)

Pretty much close. GoBlu is a touch warmer, and has a lot more noise, but also doesnā€™t have the need for the damn cable :stuck_out_tongue: Stage is bigger on Link2, but Iā€™d say they are sidegrades.

Oh so, you ended up buying the IE600? I thought you hated Sennheiser

Itā€™s a great DD, enjoy :call_me_hand:

If we hadnā€™t already gone over this in private, I wouldnā€™t have already made the move. But the Missus will GREATLY enjoy the read-up. You will have activated her FOMO so hard (for a thing she will not miss out on, no less).

So thanks for taking a moment out for us

I hate all the IE models before 600 and 900. The others are hideous and I honestly donā€™t know why they made them like that. But 600 is divineā€¦
