I am also very surprised that Prestige is overlooked and has few reviews. Most people who have tried it say it is a very, very good Mon MK2.
It doesnāt have that excellent mids of the monarch mkII. Bass is way better and treble extends much further, with better detail, soundstage and imaging. Oh and fit is also better.
My lengthy audition of the Prestige was with a Rs8 into a C9.
No, I think itās right up there with Monarch Mk2. I just think it matches my personal preferences for tuning significantly better. And just for reference, Iām not alone in thibking that, many are just afrais of sleaking out against the Monarch Mafia.
Let me put it this way. The Prestige if a Monarch level IEM for moderate V shapea tuning lovers done corectly and with a deft touch.
Is this the MK I, MKIIā¦
III, IV, V
Some say the Prestige soundstage is bigger than the Mon MK2, but the separation is worse! Mids are maybe a bit stuck on Prestige and thatās why most think Prestige is worse. But Iām not sure itās worse just because itās not mid-centric.
Šoderate V -shape results in a good metal experience .
Monarch MKII is in my endgame radar but the sheer size of it means Iām not hesitant to get one over other options in the price range.
Biggest IEM I have on hand is the Mangird Tea 2 which is noticeably smaller than the MKII.
I get a perfect Tea 2 fit with medium CP100s, zero discomfort after hours of use, not sure how good this is as a reference point.
I think getting a Moondrop S8 is a safer choice because I know thatās going to fit 100%
Itās also 300 bucks cheaper, close to 400 during sale events. MKII never goes on sale for some reason.
Speaking of Thieaudio, itās the IEM brand Iāve seen the least go on sale.
Is the Subtonic Storm around the size of the Letshuoer Ej07m?
Hereās some profile shots; Theyāre really not that far off in general size, but the resin EJ07M KL is more rounded/ovular so the metal KL ought to be even closer, if not a touch smaller than the Storm shell (I would think). Sorry that the angle is kind of goofy, but because itās so round, itās hard to get a ādirectā angle on the EJ. In terms of general fit, theyāre pretty similar in my ears.
Thanks, if itās close to the metal Kinda Lava then thatād be great since Iām hoping the upcoming Subtonic Tempest will be around that fit.
Shoot! Thatās a rad looking EJ.
Thanks my dude!
Wait you have ANOTHER custom EJ? ma man
Dayum. Storm is sexy.
Thatās the only reason I let the 07M go; I also had a KL, and I just had to pick one. I could have been happy with either one, but KL just won out a lilā bit for me.
Man, the main part of the shell on the storm is so disproportionately big compared to the nozzle - thatās insane how it still fits properly!
It is a chonker, but it hits the curves and angles just right that I havenāt had any issues with any tips yet. Weāll see how the Helios SE ends up, which appears to have a similarly āstumpyā nozzle (but with a smaller overall shell size).
Iāve heard some complains on the fit with the Helios, but then again, Iāve also heard far more complaints about the fit of the Monarchās and they fit me like a glove. I hope you find luck with the fit with the Helios, brother nothing worse than getting/having an amazing IEM for it not to fit properly
Well, the Helios SE has a completely re-designed shell and nozzle if youāre talking about the OG.
I think @SoundJedi and the guys at Symphonium are the only ones that have tried the new shell yet, but they all seem to agree that itās an improvement.
Thatās right, I totally forgot they redesigned the nozzle. Thatās amazing they actually listened to the feedback on the set and went ahead and actually changed it. Pretty cool stuff. Iām just noticing now that they made the two pin socket flushed rather than raised up as well, thatās going to make a huge difference
Helios be like
