It just looks like another all BA Harmon-esque tuned set tbh…
Yeah, here’s hoping prisma audio comes back soon. I missed the train on buying myself a prisma AZUL!
Ehh, I don’t know about that. I got to demo it recently and it kinda lives up to the hype and has some thumpy bass to liven it up. Sounds similar to the RSV, but with a baby smooth treble presentation.
On the subject of the different color IEM/buds shells making for a different sound: I painted my IE600 shells black today and got a big difference in FR:
Let me guess, they sound a lot darker now!?
Yes, but with preserved resolution, a slightly larger soundstage and a little less fatigue from listening!
In fact, it is surprising that with darker sound the resolution is preserved and even slightly better (I know the price difference)!
Damn your description is on point, you are hired for promoting new releases on head-fi
I have long wanted to become a presenter at Head-Fi, it is my childhood dream.
But no joke, it’s the truth. Blacks are inferior to grays only in terms of dynamics and a slightly closed sound (some call it dark).
A little Chinese girl shows the uncles an IEM, which will quickly empty their pockets :
The Chinese know how! I hope they learn to make good IEMs soon
@nymz another great example of the amazing Penon QC. Said no one! I even cleaned the filters, measured on two cables four times each and tried different foam tips. This was @rattlingblanketwoman set. @GooberBM is going to send his at some point so we can get another data point. We need some muscle from graphs and forum help to expose them. As @GooberBM mentioned especially with them on the heals of their 10th Anniversary and new release.
Edited: Uploaded a color that has more contrast
Why you do this to him? He’s still having nightmares about Serial
Get a multimeter and measure the resistance of it. That way you can be 100% sure its not because one side is much lower/higher resistance than the other on the cable.
If you want the same one as me and Paul use (for consistency), it is the ANENG AN8008
If Marcus uses the same cable as a control in his measurements, if it was the cable wouldn’t all his measurements do something to the graphs? Particularly the multi-driver sets?
if its the same cable across ALL measurements, then yes, it would affect all the other ones.
Usually people measure with the stock cable of the specific iem though.
Unless u want this to happen:
(non of them are stock, forgot what stock value is and what is “intended”.)
Wouldn’t the effect that happens on Fan 2 (the left earpiece having the increased bass and upper mids) happen on every left earpiece if it was the cable?
Cause Marcus’ database has IEMs the channel match very well
I use the exact same cable across all measurements. I’m not all up to be speed on the techie electrical side of cables and how it can effect the measurements. I just figured by always using the same sound card, mic, cable and tips the only variable would be the IEM. Assuming human error is ruled out which is why I take four measurements. Always removing the IEM from coupler, taking off the tip and placing it back on and then measuring again. Please let me know if there’s any other controls I could implement or something else I may be unaware of.
Not on single DDs generally (flat impedance curve), it would just give you a lower/higher gain across the whole range.
I would just stick with the stock cable on the iems, as that is what people are generally gonna be using on them.
We aren’t all sending cables down to Marcus when we share our IEMs for graphing. Wanna send extra postage monies?
In that case, using the same cable is more viable.
But do make sure it is a low measuring one, most iem cables generally are under 0.3ohm.
