So I had no idea I had these coming. Many thanks to @crinacle. Im assuming these came through SZA so I’m linking that.
Now, with that out of the way, has been a while since I hyped something. Like GBM just mentioned above, I hate to hype up expensive stuff. But these? 55usd is lunch money for some, a luxury for others, but acceptable by everyone in the grand scheme of things.
I was expecting to post my initial thoughts today, but world had others plans, so will have to leave it for tomorrow and I won’t get very long today.
What I can and will say right now is that these are the best price-to-performance of the year so far, in my opinion. And most likely my new sub 100$ benchmark.
Oh, and the best part? Most of bassheads here will get satisfied with the adapter, making it an universal rec.
Touché. I even used to hate red on IEMs, and I don’t anymore. Good luck beating this soon…
Preliminary Personal Rank: 5.
First guess! Got it
Stressed absolutely not. I have no problem them taking their time to hopefully put more love into making a set. Excitement and not being able to contain it are my problems. Which makes it even better when I finally do get it in the mail.
Welp, my future Subtonic Tempest money pile is going to take a small hit with this it seems
I need this cleared up though, what is the name of it’s sound signature? Whatever it is I’m sure it’s going to be my first in a while away from my balanced with a bit extra bass and my U-shaped friends
I would call that Harman-Neutral. It’s got the Harman-style bass but it’s a neutral upper-midrange and treble
Then after throwing the impedance adapter on I’m guessing it becomes a bass-boosted neutral or is it Harmon bass-boosted neutral?
Yeah pretty much a bass-boosted neutral. On my matrix I’d probably categorize it as warm-neutral. But I’d want to hear it to confirm
I would prob go bass boosted neutral over warm neutral just based on the graph cause it’s got a bit of a tuck vs a constant glide
I was under the impression that the impedance adapter pretty much raises the bass from the original compliance to the Harmon AE/OE 2018 Target Crin tuned against to the Harmon IE 2019 target that we as IEM enthusiasts are more familiar with. With that added target bass the upper frequencies also get boosted which with the slight treble pull down from the impedence adapter on the RED is going to provide less extension overall against the IE 2019 target.
Here is the FR against those specific targets as well as against the OG Zero which makes it easier to line up with Crin talking about applying more of a glide instead of a bass boost.
from you a -Preliminary Personal Rank: 5.
wow just wow
regards
= just ordered PR2
Hoping the Zero Red feels sufficient enough in the midbass to be satisfying in any case
Like I said, I’d want to hear them myself before I make any firm judgments
Do they “sing” on the HUM?
There are 50 of these Helios SE in existence and like 10% of them are on HFGF…Jesus, y’all are some psychos, and I’m here for it
