So far, what has been your favorite filter?
The standard Black balanced 100% as I said before buying them i’m not too sure why a company would include filters with their final “flagship” iem are they in any doubt as to what sound signature they want to stand for?..EQ’s are available if purchasers think it necessary? (not something I want to do) and as for the plethora of tips, surely if you are spending $500 on an iem you’ll prob have a fav one to hand already?..apart from that they rock driven by the ifi Micro iDSD 'em
What do you think of them off of the micro vs nano
Yeah, as in is there a noticeable difference comparing the fh7 on the micro vs the nano bl
also I agree that you are pretty much set dac/amp wise
Sorry just re-read your reply lol… I’ve not tried the Nano balanced yet but I will…(got the family over today so juggling stuff) I’ll give it ago later if I get time but as I said a cleaner Dac Amp combo would be an interesting proposition but if I “needed” anything??? then it’s more over ear DD’s, estats and iem’s lol
Ok i’ve now had a bit of time to compare the two…i’m using a Hart Audio balanced 3.5mm MMCX cable which works with 1/4" adaptor I have on the Micro so no cable changes needed…Listened to Kate Bush, Tom Waits, Fleetwood Mac, The Prodigy, Kendrick Lamar, Miles Davis and Led Zeppelin…and the Micro wins hands down…the bass is deeper, tighter and has more authority, where as the Nano is sorta meh…The Nano’s mid and upper mids are good and open but somehow seem a tad harsh compared to the Micro’s smooth and effortless delivery, same goes for the treble, the Nano’s treble seem to be a bit forced and false? where as the Micro never loose control…so for me on this one single ended wins out over balanced
Nice lol, yeah just curious to see if you noticed a significant difference
Ooo you got your mod well deserved sir
The P1’s on the Micro with the bass boost switched + juice sound better than FH7’s do on the Nano balanced imho…FH7’s single ended on the Micro do pretty much everything right absolutely no complaints here banging they are
I’m taking this quote back lol… i’ve been playing around with all the tips that came with the 7’s for a while now and to my surprise for the first time ever I prefer a silicone one on an iem more specifically the FiiO balanced ones, although their bass and vocal tips both work well and do a better job of tweaking the sound than the filters which seems to totally mess things up for me, this might be down to the actual shape if the iem? (v comfortable though) or maybe the “re-enforced, curved, hose pipe, plastic over the ear bit” of the cable I usually just prefer soft cable…anyhoo still loving them muchly
@Ohmboy
My FH5’s responded the same way to tips. I was all about the foamies until getting the FH5’s. I wasn’t impressed with how the foamies sounded. Popped on the Fiio silicones and the FH5’s came to life. Been running 'em ever since.
I don’t know if there is any correlation, but it seems like to me that foam tips improve/balance the sound on my lower-end iems, where silicone tips reveal what the Andromedas are capable of. I always owned <$200 iems and foam tips covered up some of the flaws I had with them. But, they improved my t2, P1, and bgvp dm6, so I assumed that was the way to go. I really thought people were crazy for dropping $1100 on Andromedas until I decided to try silicone tips with them.
I decided to take the plunge and try what I hoped would be an upgrade from the only IEMs I have owned to date… TIN P1’s.
Received my new FH7’s along with the (expensive) LC-4.4D accessory cable 5 days ago now. Have put a little over 60 hours of “burn in” on them and maybe only 3 hours of critical listening so far. I’ll be using them with my iPod Touch/Q5S stack, but also with my Chord Mojo/Poly combo.
My initial impression is WOW! The FH7’s are just more in almost every way vs. the P1’s. I’m not very good at describing sound, but these definitely have a bigger soundstage, more bass (tight and controlled, not sloppy), and just a fuller sound (more dynamic?) than what I was used to. I’m very happy with these.
I haven’t messed around with changing any of the filters and probably won’t with the way these sound already. Tried several of the different included tips, and must agree with the comments above regarding the silicone tips sounding better than the foam. I found Dekoni foam tips to be the best sounding/comfortable for me with the P1’s, but must say that the balanced silicone tips work the best for me with the FH7’s.
For anybody considering the FiiO FH7’s I doubt you would be disappointed with your purchase. These definitely get two from me.
FiiO FTW!
I think people who say “I only use ___ tips” are doing a disservice to themselves and missing out on what a lot of iems are capable of. I also mostly used foam tips until I got the Andromedas, which sound markedly better with silicone. I definitely would have my preferences in a perfect world, but I’d much rather have my equipment sound as good as it possibly can.
Yeah, the biggest thing for me was always comfort. I’ve struggled with earbuds being comfortable in my ears for any length of time. Foam always seemed best. I finally realized I needed to use small instead of medium sized tips.
Glad you’re enjoying your fh7’s as much as I do, I also agree after much faffing around with the filters and tips supplied I ended up back using the stock filter and balanced silicone tips
One thing I did do was use the bass boost silicone tips on my P1’s
Welcome to the club! I’m happy you’re enjoying them! They’re definitely high caliber!
I got these today and have been listening for the past 5 hours uninterrupted. I’m loving these out of the box-literally. I have a nice 4.4 cable I am using, but other than that stock tips and stock filter and no complaints at all. I’m running them balanced off of the M15 and it’s a killer combo.
I just got the Moondrop S8s yesterday, so I’m going to be busy. I ordered both from Hifigo separately, and weeks apart, and they get delivered on back to back days. I feel like @Nick_Mimi with my recent abundance of iems, but it should make for a fun weekend. My very early impressions would be that the S8s may be more technically proficient, but I’m going to be listening to the FH7s a good bit more I think. They are just a really fun tuning. This is going to be my last iem purchase for a bit, since I’ve accumulated a nice arsenal lately, and my next purchases will be for my desktop setup (I think). This is a good iem to take a break on.
With all the new owner feed back we get concerning Iem’s and HP’s etc it does seem that FH7 owners seem the most satisfied with the least complaints or concerns?
Doesn’t look like we’ve had a dissatisfied buyer yet! What’s crazy is that even with its track record, i think it’s safe to say it’s still a severely underrated IEM. I’m thinking with time and as more people become exposed to it, maybe it will get the rep it deserves
