I jog and bike often and I love these.
While the sound isn’t the best, you can still hear everything around you, your ears don’t get sweaty, and they are legal for use on bikes.
So I am going to update this a bit here… So I went and tried upon recommendation the Samsung Galaxy Buds+ plus and unfortionately they don’t seem to wanna stay in my ears hahaha. Looks like I need a good design thats really going to hold on my head or wired. Almost lost the right earbud today due to it falling out of my ear in a large patch of grass… Open back up to recommendations to this. I need something thats actually going to STAY on my head hahaha. @RiceGuru So, I did finally sit down with the starfields… unfortunately I think I am just not able to wear those… to me they are insanely uncomfortable and didn’t wanna fit right either. Going to need a different design or like a headphone thats actually going to stay on my head mid sprint… I see that @Ryllin posted the aeropex… Thats a very neat design but not sure if that would work out inside of a gym with other people around… sounds like you would be more of a nuisance hahahah. Needless to say its going to have to be one of the two solutions… a wired or strange solution liek those aeropex or a headphone.
I suppose I could also increase my budget a bit if its a headphone as That would take over the whole “on the go” for walks and what not and at the same time for working out but I don’t think a headphone works well for sprints to my knowledge… less that clamp force is fairly hefty.
Increased budget to $250 still looking
Hey @Falenkor
The aeroplex aren’t very loud to those around you (I blast metal when I exercise, and never get looks). Since they work outside your ears you won’t feel the annoying sliding sensation when sweating. (That is why I grabbed them, since I sweat a good amount).
I have a co-worker who use the powerbeats pro and like them.
I’ve tried Bose sports too, but didn’t like them due to sweat buildup.
hmm, thats interesting then. Since they aren’t in or on your ears… any issues with actually hearing the music from loud outside sources and also how is the fit? Sprinting has it’s own pressure ya know? I don’t want to have it fly off my head
Not at all.
Do keep in mind though that you will not have any noise isolation.
The sound quality isn’t the greatest either (from an audiophile perspective), but the benefits from having fully open/clear ears is amazing.
Grab a pair on Amazon, and do an easy return if you don’t like them
Alright I will bite… Placed an order. However, I also placed an order on beats pro over there… if both of these do not work I will have to resort to a headphone
Good luck,
They are very unique headphones.
They should be in Tuesday. Will chime in around then. Hopefully with good news on it… otherwise its on the hunt for a headphone lol going to find my ideal set for what I need one way or another
Looks like you already made a purchase but I just wanted to drop in and say you should go ahead and get the KSC75 just because they are $15 and sound really, REALLY good. Even if you don’t have a specific use for them you should buy them. Everyone should buy them and try them at least once. They look cheap. They feel cheap. They are cheap. They sound great. That is all.
lol I don’t think they would work in this case in particular but worth getting i guess
Wanted to chime in here as I received and have been using the aeropex for a little over a day now. I gotta say that I will be returning them. They honestly sound horrid, not very comfortable as the back band gets in the way if I want to say use a benchpress while laying back, doesn’t hold very well on my ears mid sprint was worried it would fall, very quiet despite being on full max volume I had in some cases trouble hearing the volume of these especially in town. These are nice in theory but my hearing is sensitive as it is… I haven’t got around to using the beats they arrive tomorrow concerned that I won’t be a fan of those though but I will find out… May have to resort to headphones.
I use Plantronic BackBeat Fit Bluetooth earbuds at the gym. I don’t care for IEMs because of having to shove bits into the ear canal, but these are shaped like Apple AirPods, and just sit inside the ear. They’re waterproof, and sound reasonably good. If you decide to go with wired headphones, maybe Koss Porta Pros as others suggest… or Sporta Pros (never tried those, but assume they’d sound similar).
Lol I did see sporta but I never see them recommended or really brought up. Porta pros is a good recommendation. yeah, I am finding it hard to find a good pair that will be comfortable and actually stay in the ear… I worry when using wireless cause I almost lost my last earbuds from being wireless while out working so at this point im pretty convinced itll have to be wired with a good fit. Will agree about IEM as I seem to have an issue with fitting them properly to my ears. The problem with using a Porta pro is that if im running… those headphones arent sweat proof… meaning in this case I am primarily stuck using an earbud… I think I need to look into like a particular stable ear bud… it has to have a good hold for the ear.
After months of playing around, I’ve setttled with IEM’s for on the go instead of headphones.
Last year, the Ikko OH10 with Radsone ES100 and Spiraldot eartips had me at a 5 day trip at a 3 day gaming con. I wore them for an average 8 hours a day with no fatigue or pain, and it blocks out 95% of the noise.
These days, I use the Fiio UTWS1 to make them true wireless. The OH10 does have minor hissing but when you’re on the go, with music, you don’t notice them. I can also vouch for the Moondrop Starfields for a more well rounded, vocal-centric experience if the V-shaped OH10’s aren’t your style.
Shamelessly, I use plantronic backbeats for running. Why?
- Stay on my head
- Don’t fall out of my ears
- Charged up because I don’t use it as a daily driver other than exercising
- When I’m running I can’t appreciate quality
- Pretty sweat resistant enough for my needs.
- Don’t care terribly if they’re lost
I mean, I have the moondrops and they definitely don’t fit my ears properly at all which is a shame. I can’t wear them on the run as they will fall out. I know some people have some issues based on size and design of IEM but I have no idea how to go about finding what would suit me and ya know. actually stay in my friggin ears lmao. As far as sound I am fine with balanced, V, and warm for sound and Planars are always welcome in my books
Scuddahoo just recommended this brand. The issue I am having is the same as usual… Making sure it properly fits and STAYS in my ears while not sounding like absolute crap, doesn’t have to sound the best just has to work properly. Sweat resistant is a big one… I considered porta pros but then I realized real fast that would probably be a bad idea as the sweat would ruin them and I go on jogs if its drizzling too. I just got the PowerBeats Pro over there and it’s definitely too uncomfortable and to loose fitting to my ears. Wondering if maybe I need to look into a different type of plastic fitting that goes inside the ear for proper fitment cause these basic small cushy plastics arent working. I would definitely care if they are lost cause it’s just money out of my pocket at that point. Honestly, considered looking into some kinda foam tips or extra flange style ear tips so it will help them stay in my ears. All for going with IEM cause I am not always exercising so good sound is welcome it’s just I don’t want to spend a lot and risk losing them.
A lot of fit I find boils down to tips that you use, and sometimes it can be really non standard. For reference, I use can only use Spinfit CP100, Spiraldots and Azla Earfit Lights because they come in an extra small size that only fits my right ear. If it’s one size bigger, the IEM falls out. My left ear is normal S size, so I have to buy 2 different sizes to fit my ears.
Maybe you have the same issue as well? Play around with smaller tip sizes and see if that helps.
Perhaps I should create an IEM post looking for recommendations at that point asking for advice on fitting and the like…? The different tip sizes didn’t seem to work all too well… may need to change to foam or flange if possible
Worth a try.
Hopefully the beats works better for you
